I bought this thing with the intention of keeping it at home as a quirky conversation piece but it was so cool I just had to bring it into work. The reactions are hilarious and range from "Why do you have a telephone booth?" to "what's a 'police box'?". So far, only one person recognized it and kinda shifted their eyes from side to side while saying in a hushed voice... "You watch 'the Doctor' too?" "No sir, I watch the Doctor WHO". Ha! The right people get it.Either way, the fact it just floats there, rotating at the slightest breeze, seems to blow everyone away. If I had a nickle for every time someone sat there and (20 or so minutes into a meeting) lurched suddenly towards it exclaiming "Wait, is that FLOATING?!", it would have paid for itself. The only major flaw I could find is that it doesn't come with a AC adapter. I ran down to Radio Shack and picked one up, so factor that into your cost (the battery option gets old fast). Bottom line is this... There is just something about the little blue box slowly turning throughout the day that simply helps the tension flow away and helps you keep things in perspective, it's a "fantastic" conversation piece and one of the best realized (in function) TARDIS replicas. I have a wibbly wobbly floaty desk TARDIS. Floaty desk TARDISes are "cool".

For all those Dr Who fans out there, this is a pretty cool toy.....The Tardis spins in mid air with no problem and any sort of breeze starts it spinning. When the lights go out in the room, the Tardis lands A fun frivolous toy to have around ;-)

Here's a video of placing the TARDIS and spinning it with a straw. It has a light sensor, so when there's no light, it drops. You have to put it back up manually (center it between the top and the bottom of the stand). I like it a lot, but wished it automatically levitated itself. I thought it would, but it can't. The stand is cheap plastic and it's made in China. Doesn't come with a/c adapter or batteries, but will run on either (6xAA batteries are needed). Edit 11/8/2011: I bought an a/c adapter which deactivates the light sensor, now it spins all day and night.

This toy is is great for anyone that is a Dr. Who fan! When it first came, I didnt realize that you either need a 9v adapter (that isnt sold with the item), or 6 1.5v AA batteries (batteries in the US are usually 1.2V), so I went to walmart and picked one up for about $10. Other than that, this is absolutely perfect! Its very easy to "hook" the tardis between the magnets, and with a slight breeze, it spins continuously in mid air! If you have the batteries in it, when the lights go out, the tardis lands to save energy. This only works for batteries and not the 9v adapter. (Hence the 4 star rating) This came rather quickly and in an excellent condition! Even with the power issue, this is really worth the price! Its fun to show it off and see peoples reaction when they realize the Tardis is hovering! Excellent seller as well!

I purchased this item as a Christmas present for someone. I liked it so much that I kept it myself! I will order another one and give it as a present later!

I was surprised how big it was. The dimensions were only given for the phone booth, I though it was including the stand. It is very easy to set the Tardis onto its' magnetic "hook" and it spins and wiggles to the slightest breeze. I have it sitting on my desk at work right next to a small fan. When I have the fan on, the Tardis spins constantly. The only drawback was that it did not come with the AC adapter. That was easily remedied by ordering a HON-KWANG AC Adapter 120CVAC/9VDC 200MA D6300-01 plug-in power adapter from Amazon. One of the cool features is that if you are using batteries only, there is a light sensor in the stand that will shut off the battery when it gets dark, landing the Tardis onto the stand and conserving the battery life.A definite MUST HAVE for any Doctor Who fan.

I love this desk toy. The only issues are that it does not sit as far from the top as the image shows. It floats about 1/2 inch from the top and since most people are taller than the desk it sits on, you cannot see it is floating at all. The batteries also run down fast, so I bought an AC adapter for the unit. Beyond all that, I still like it.

My son-in-law loved it and I'll probably get him the desktop Darlek next. Unless of course, I'd keep it myself. (grin)
