Product Description

Learn to levitate this Time Lords Spinning TARDIS so it actually floats in midair! With a little flick of the wrist, it's spinning and spinning and spinning! It does take a little practice, but who doesn't like a challenge? And it's well worth the effort as this extraordinary desktop curiosity keeps people amazed and entertained for hours. Every office and home should have one of these great gadgets! Based on Doctor Who, the TARDIS measures slightly over 3-inches tall and contains magnets. It requires 6x "AA" batteries. No black magic involved... really!

5.0 out of 5 stars The coolest desk item ever. June 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this thing with the intention of keeping it at home as a quirky conversation piece but it was so cool I just had to bring it into work. The reactions are hilarious and range from "Why do you have a telephone booth?" to "what's a 'police box'?". So far, only one person recognized it and kinda shifted their eyes from side to side while saying in a hushed voice... "You watch 'the Doctor' too?" "No sir, I watch the Doctor WHO". Ha! The right people get it.

Either way, the fact it just floats there, rotating at the slightest breeze, seems to blow everyone away. If I had a nickle for every time someone sat there and (20 or so minutes into a meeting) lurched suddenly towards it exclaiming "Wait, is that FLOATING?!", it would have paid for itself.

The only major flaw I could find is that it doesn't come with a AC adapter. I ran down to Radio Shack and picked one up, so factor that into your cost (the battery option gets old fast).

Bottom line is this... There is just something about the little blue box slowly turning throughout the day that simply helps the tension flow away and helps you keep things in perspective, it's a "fantastic" conversation piece and one of the best realized (in function) TARDIS replicas. I have a wibbly wobbly floaty desk TARDIS. Floaty desk TARDISes are "cool".

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun while spinning, needs to be levitated manually. October 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
Length: 0:30 Mins
Here's a video of placing the TARDIS and spinning it with a straw.

It has a light sensor, so when there's no light, it drops. You have to put it back up manually (center it between the top and the bottom of the stand). I like it a lot, but wished it automatically levitated itself. I thought it would, but it can't.

The stand is cheap plastic and it's made in China. Doesn't come with a/c adapter or batteries, but will run on either (6xAA batteries are needed).

Edit 11/8/2011: I bought an a/c adapter which deactivates the light sensor, now it spins all day and night.

5.0 out of 5 stars a fun toy for who fans October 12, 2010
By nope
For all those Dr Who fans out there, this is a pretty cool toy.....

The Tardis spins in mid air with no problem and any sort of breeze starts it spinning.

When the lights go out in the room, the Tardis lands

A fun frivolous toy to have around ;-)
