Great magazine, but not from Amazon...,
By
This review is from: Doctor Who - UK (Magazine)
Come on, the cover price is only $8 USD. You can still purchase it at any comic book dealer and probably most book stores that have the ability to special order magazines as well as books.
It's a great magazine but, unless you don't have a choice, don't pay Amazon their extortion prices for it...

More than a fan mag - more than a TV show!,
By
This review is from: Doctor Who - UK (Magazine)
If you are a fan of the world of Doctor Who, you can not go wrong subscribing. Past, present, and future issues are covered on a regular basis. The magazine has in depth articles regarding its history and those who played a role in it.Each issue also comes with an animated comic of the current Doctor(in COLOR even!) and very professionally done. There are reviews on every new product including DVDs, CDs,Books, and Audio Dramas. Once a year there is a FREE CD issue that includes an exclusive audio drama from Big Finish Productions. There are very humorous and enlightening editorials in each issue. All spin off series are covered as well (i.e. Bernice Summerfield, Faction Paradox, etc. ). Overall the magazines visuals are excellent. They have the largest library of exclusive Dr. Who photos on Earth. The only thing that I can complain about is the price - I could buy a lot of the books for this price. But where else are you going to get such extensive coverage? Cheap fan mags are okay, but this goes far beyond! And for those of you who have not kept up with Dr. Who - it is no longer 'just' a tv show - it is a genre.

Way too expensive,

Going along with M. Blake:
This is a wonderful magazine, and is chock full of information on both the classic and new series - great for those of us in the US that don't get to see it. The interviews, previews, audio review, etc. are all great. I especially liked the "Fact of Fiction" for the missing stories, as they give a very nice insight to what they were like. What's not great is the pricetag from Amazon. The issues that I have are marked at 6.50 USD. That's only 84.50 USD for all 13 issues. Either get them from a comic book store that will charge you just the cover price, or buy them from eBay. Either way, you'll save yourself over 40 bucks.

Great magazine;but Amazon is too expensive!,

Amazon usually has great prices on their merchandise, but not with this magazine subscription. My daughter is a big fan of Doctor Who, and has bought this magazine each month for the last couple years, at our local Borders bookstore for $7.99 plus tax. You just have to check each month to make sure you don't miss an issue, but it's a lot cheaper than what they want here.

The definitive Dr. Who magazine in a convenient, if pricey AMAZON package,

It's a glossy high quality mag. done for fans by fans. Cover to cover it's 66 pages of interesting stuff about 41 years of Doctor Who. Doctor Who Monthly is loaded with original color photo spreads and articles about the TV show, new and old. It covers related books, DVDs, CDs, appearances, conventions, merchandize, and more. DWM has insightful interviews with series stars past, present and future. The new series' producer Russel T. Davies, as a fan, gives exclusive info and interviews to the magazine, out of respect and thanks for all the years he enjoys DWM before working on the series. Learn TORCHWOOD spin-off info here first, which books, toys and DVDs are due out and reviews for them in OFF THE SHELF. Read set reports from the episodes in production and post-production. Read regular features like my favorite: THE TIME TEAM, a monthly column in which 4 reviewers are watching all 723 original episodes (about 8 per month), commenting and keeping track of "DEATHS ON SCREEN SO FAR" (830 as of episode 537), also "instances of 1 or more REGULARS BEING RENDERED UNCONSCIOUS" (163 as of episode 537) and " 1 or more REGULARS BEING INCARCERATED" (216 as of episode 537) on the CLICHÉ COUNTER. DWM is published by MARVEL COMIC UK so there is always a 4 or 6 part comic strip, currently featuring the 10th Doctor and Rose.
If love the series this is the best publication on the market related to the series, although DreamWatch is easier to find at a Barnes and Nobles, but you might get only one Dr. Who article in it. DWM runs about $7.99 cover (apart from AMAZON), publishing 13 magazines per year (there's an ANNUAL special), you can special order issues without a subscription at some bookstores or most comicbook shops. That's actually $113. 87 after tax, so for convenience (17 dollars of convenience, sir), the Amazon subscription at $130.73 maybe the choice for you or one at a time somewhere else, either way it's a great mag.

Now there's a new show, do we need the mag?,

What a stupid question-OF COURSE WE NEED IT.
Look, I can't say if you're going to like the magazine (although if you are a fan you probably will) the best advise I can give is to go down to your local W.H.Smiths (or any sort of shop that sell lots of mags) and buy an edition. If you like it, subscribe-what could be simpler?

Indispensible guide to Who,

Much better than any other fan mags out there such as Star Wars Insider, or the frankly lame Titan offerings for Buffy, Torchwood, Lost, 24, etc.
Every issue is absolutely packed with info, previews, great photos, exclusive stuff... it's just great. Buy yours at Borders stores for 7.99 an issue, or ask your local comic shop to order it for you through "Diamond Previews".

Amazon subscription not as bad a deal as it used to be,

While all the older reviews complaining about the price were completely justified, it's worth noting that DWM recently expanded its content - and its price. The cover price is now $9.99, so an extra $1.48 per issue isn't too ridiculous if you currently have to go well out of your way to buy it every month.
If you're a Doctor Who fan over the age of 12, it's worth buying DWM instead of the new, cheaper American magazine, which seems to be targeted at kids and is riddled with factual errors.

Who Fan Must Have,
By
This review is from: Doctor Who - UK (Magazine)
If you're a Doctor Who fan, this is the one magazine you must have. Of the many magazines to which I subscribe, this is one of only two that I read cover-to-cover and I eagerly await the arrival of each issue. It's big and glossy and full of pictures like any fan magazine, but it's also full of interviews with the people in front of and behind the camera, as well as reviews of the TV episodes, the books, the toys, and the Big Finish and BBC audios. Executive producer Russell T. Davies has a monthly column, which will be taken over by Steven Moffatt when when he steps into that role next year.
