Although they are small, doctor blades are critical components of a flexographic print job. They help ensure that the correct amount of ink is transferred to the anilox roll so the finished product is done in the desired way. If not used properly, however, doctor blades can cause damage to other press parts and the print job as a whole. If not handled properly, they can also cause injury. Therefore, understanding how doctor blades work and how to use them is a critical part of the process.
