5.0 out of 5 stars Great book
I've had this book for about 5 years, and it's been very useful when I or one in my family gets sick. What I like most about the book is that it gives you remedies that don't mean heay medicines, for instance, honey, aspirin, alcohol, oatmeal, things that you usually have around your home. It contains an index of "illneses" like jet-lag, the flu, cramps,...

If you scan over the common sense advice, there are some very helpful ideas for every condition or problem that you might have. It's worth a glace or buy if you see it in a used bookstore.

It contains an index of "illneses" like jet-lag, the flu, cramps, stomachaches, heartburn, fever, it tells you what to do and when, if necessary call the doctor. It is a highly recommended book, you won't waste your money here.

4.0 out of 5 stars Helpful advice for people with bad medical insurance benefit, July 20, 2000
This review is from: The Doctors Book of Home Remedies: Thousands of Tips and Techniques Anyone Can Use to Heal Everyday Health Problems (Paperback)
I have used this book as a reference guide for everything between athelete's foot to zinc and I have found it to be very useful. In fact, I loaned the book to my brother and he refuses to give it back. I bought another copy for me and a few more for gifts. Not everything that they recommend works, but I have a high deductable for medical insurance, and I have saved many trips to the doctor by reading this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most practicle guide to healh problems for your family, January 11, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Doctors Book of Home Remedies: Thousands of Tips and Techniques Anyone Can Use to Heal Everyday Health Problems (Paperback)
A handy well written and wonderfully researched guide to just about everything that can go wrong with the health of every family member. Their advice and answers to every day health questions and problems is like having a doctor on call 24 hours a day. It's also great for piece of mind or educating yourself on problems you your friends or family members may be experiencing. Even after a visit to the doctor I often further educate myself by looking up the information in their comprehensive index section. My wife and I were amazed how often we picked it up to refer to it. On lots of minor problems it saves a trip to the doctor, plus the Publisher Rodale and Prevention are perhaps the leading publishers in the world on Health and Fitness.

4.0 out of 5 stars If you want a useful book, this is it!, July 6, 1997
By A Customer
This isn't one of those books that use esoteric herbs and strange cures that may or may not work. This book is full of advice by real doctors, meaning the advice is based on medical knowledge, not lore passed down from generations before.

It's also full of useful information on everyday problems ranging from stiff necks to insomnia. I'm very glad I got it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book!!!, December 21, 2004
I can't count how many times this book has helped my family and me over the years! We have to older version which is just fine for most things however, I'm ordering the newer anyway for the updates.

The ONLY negative I found was that some of the intros for the doctors in each remedy were so long, they took up most of the remedy so really, without the doc intro's the book would be smaller which is good (less bulky in the middle of the night)! Maybe the writers can mention the docs in an intro chapter because some of them are mentioned twice or more in the book. Make since?

GREAT BOOK THOUGH!

5.0 out of 5 stars The health book I actually use., December 10, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is an excellent resource, full of practical tips for dealing with a large variety of health issues. I have at least 2 shelves full of health & medical advice books, some quite gigantic. But THIS is the book I always reach for when dealing with health problems. It gets right to the point & offers a list of things you can do to deal with each problem. (I just bought an updated one for me & another copy for a friend so that I don't have to keep reading her mine over the phone while she takes notes.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Covers just about everything you would ever need to know, November 18, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Even though the book is smaller than I expected, it is chalked full of great information and remedies for almost everything you can think of. I bought this to be prepared and not to go to the doctor everytime I have a stomach ache, toothache, bloody nose, etc. It explains in detail the ususal root of every problem and many, many solutions on how to remedy. I recommend this book for every house hold. It is a great reference, extremely informative, and well written by a full array of professionals in the medical field.

5.0 out of 5 stars INCREDIBLE, April 17, 2009
This book gives new meaning to the axiom "the book will come alive and walk down off the shelf." It's Like having a qualified professional by your side at a time of need. I had the worse kind of Flu bug a number of years ago and thought I would die home alone. Consulted the remedie book and the first thing it asked was "do you think you are going to die?" Then went on to give on point medical advise from professionals. A must for the home. Medical solutions at your finger tips. From spider bites to insomnia you got a question it has the answers in alphabetical order.
