She doesn't just provide erotica to sell a book.

This is a book you will either like or hate it doesn't make it a bad book it just means that you didn't like the story.

Words cannot express how disappointed I am with this book. This has got to be the worst Brenda Jackson book I have read. All her other books are great. She is my favorite author and it breaks my heart to provide a review of this book. The quality of writing is sophomoric and way below her standards. The main reason why she is successful in this field is because she usually provides an excellent story line along with romance and passion. She doesn't just provide erotica to sell a book. This book does not have a real story line. It lacks the Brenda Jackson touch. For example, characters' name Jasmine or Jaclyn, De Winter or DeWinter. Someone should have checked this before the (Hopewell General) books were released. Someone sacrificed quality to just release books. Not a good idea in this economy. Entertainment dollars can go somewhere else. I only read this series because it was a Brenda Jackson book. I read the second book to see if I could understand why the first book was so bad. The second book is slightly better but not good. I will read the third book because I like Maureen Smith and hope her book will be better.

I didn't enjoy reading this book, this was book 1 of the Hopewell General Series, thought I needed to read it before book 2.

I love Brenda Jackson's books but this one was not one of my favorites. Very well written as always but there was no real zest, no steam, nothing that made me want to read it in an hour like I usually do with her books. I am ready for the second book in the series because Ann Christopher does not disappoint!!

First off, I must state that I usually LOVE all of Brenda Jackson's books. I am a huge fan. However, I was disappointed with the story. It lacked the hot steamy appeal of her other books. The chemistry wasn't really there, it seemed forced. I hate giving any of her books a bad review :(
Just reading book two by Ann Christopher...now that's more like it. Hot and steamy! Hopefully Maureen Smith will continue this trend.

Now, let me start off by saying I am a huge Brenda Jackson fan. I have been reading Brenda Jackson since the very beginning, when I had to sneak my mom's romance novels as a teen. I love Ms. Jackson's stories, and hold her writing gift with the highest regard.

However...

This book annoyed me. As a medical student working on her MD, I was disappointed by the inaccurate portrayal of the interns and attending in the story. First of all, you are only an intern for 1 year, your first year out of medical school. Second, she had doctor's switching specialties like that's easily possible. Finally, the plot was basic. It felt like either this book was written in a rush or Ms. Jackson had a ghostwriter. It simply didn't have the finesse or research that I expect from her novels.

I think it really deserved 1 star for the mistakes, but, I do love Ms. Jackson. Thus, 2 stars.

I love Brenda Jackson books so when I seen this book on the library website it sounded good. I stopped read this book at chapter 5 because it was slow, boring, & all I seem to read about is the main characters thoughts about each other.

Brenda Jackson's work is becomng so predictable these days. I have read over thirty of her novels and was at one point a HUGE fan, but in recent years she has fallen off big time. I really had to push myself to keep reading because I hate giving up on books. Bland isn't even the word to fully express this reading experience. And the rest of the books in the series were just as bad. I sincerely hope Mrs. Jackson has got it together for her next release, Courting Justice and it is not as dry and uninteresting as this fail. I have been waiting for that book for ages. I need her to stop recycling story lines and make it worth the read.

Dr. Lucien De Winter has had a crush on Jasmine Campbell since she started at Hopewell but never acted on it because he's her attending and there's a strict fraternization clause being enforced by crotechy nurse Tsang. When Dr. De Winter comforts Jasmine during a difficult time, they share a kiss and find out their attraction is mutual. Now they'll have to hide their romance or risk losing their careers.
Ms. Jackson did a fantastic job opening the Hopewlll General series and I really enjoyed Lucien and Jasmine's story. If you love romance, you've got to love Ms. Jackson and how her stories unfold. Not too sappy, just the right amount of spice and great secondary charaters. Very well written.
