4.0 out of 5 stars A good "house" history!, November 26, 2007
This review is from: The Doctors Mayo (Paperback)
The edition I read was dated 1990, but apparently this book was published long before that date. While it is a "house" publication I found it well-written and usually it held my interest. It seems clear that the Mayo brothers were exemplary people and the world is a better place for their having lived. Some of the accounts of things that happened were poignant, and the book is proof that "house" biographies can be well worth reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars how the Mayo Clinic was founded, January 15, 2010

This review is from: Doctors Mayo (Paperback)
Thousands of people from all over the world have gone to the Mayo Clinic to seek medical care. This is a biography of Doctor William Worrall Mayo and his sons William and Charles, and the history of how the Mayo Clinic was founded. Excellent reading for anyone interested in the development of medical practice, particularly surgery, in America. Also a unique look at American cultural history from the 1870s through 1920s. Recommended by the American Association for the Advancement of Science. 437 pages, illustrated.
