A Very Helpful Tool !!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Doctor's Pocket Calorie, Fat & Carbohydrate Counter, 2003 (Paperback)
I bought this book because my original calorie counter was completely lacking many restaurants and was very disorganized. This calorie counter has easy to find sections, a very comprehensive restaurant section, and it is easy to carry in a purse. I have been trying to lose weight for so long and after two months of just watching my calorie intake, keeping a food journal, and a little exercise, I have lost 20lbs. This book is a very helpful tool if you are trying to lose weight, and become a healthier person.

If this book doesn't list it, you probably wouldn't eat it anyway. A "must have" if you're checking carbs or counting calories on your own. If you are on an exchanges or points plan, you probably wouldn't need this book though. 5 stars because it delivers everything it claims, and then some.

Convenient & packed with info,

The amount of information this compact (4.5"x6") book contains is INCREDIBLE! My doctor recommended it to me for keeping track of fats & carbs, so I have this info for hundreds of restaurant dishes, and every market-brand and general type of food I can think of, right at hand. (I'll never eat an Onion Blossom appetizer again!) Doc is happy and I'm losing weight. The first 20 pages present nutrition & diet info, and the back section has guides for sodium, caffeine, alcohol, cholesterol, high BP, etc., so I appreciate that it's not strictly data reference. Hard to believe that such a comprehensive book like this is only $ -- not that I'm complaining!

Good Content--Covers Many Areas,
By A Customer
This review is from: Doctor's Pocket Calorie, Fat & Carbohydrate Counter, 2003 (Paperback)
I have other books on calorie counts, but this one seemed to include and condense everything that I needed. It tends to summarize some food items, and lump some together, but it provided me with the guidance I needed to record my daily caloric intake. In addition (something I didn't know before I bought the book) it has a large section on restaurant and fast-food establishments, which can be very helpful when choosing a food while eating out. It's a very comprehensive book, with health-tips as well. I like it better than the others I have.

This guide not only provides valuable food count information, it also provides nutrition information. Although not presented as a weight loss plan this book clearly contains the best method for both losing weight and developing healthy lifetime eating habits.

My husband and I are counting calories, and we bought this book to take on vacation. Using it - we were able to enjoy food and not gain back the weight we have worked so hard to lose - I think it is the most comprehensive aid to dieters on the market.

I really enjoyed this book. I use it everyday to figure out the calorie intake of my food. It is very helpful for me with my counting calories. The added extras in the book such as the cartoons were also cute! Great reading!

I am a type 1 and I LOVE this book. Wouldn't be much use if you count exchanges instead of carbs. So if you count exchanges try this: switch doctors, THEN buy the book. Also, I think that if you have a palm there is software you can order too.
