Do you want to do more with the paper on your desk? Would you like to copy it, collate it, file it, search it, mail it and make it disappear? Sounds time consuming doesn’t it? How about if you could do it all with just one touch?
Visioneer OneTouch with Kofax VRS (VirtualReScan) technology is integrated into the scanner driver so that you get perfect scans from imperfect originals. VRS also eliminates the need to rescan documents through automatic cropping, straightening, brightness control and edge clean-up. All this is integrated into Visioneer OneTouch so your entire scanning requirements are achieved at the touch of a button. Most new users in document imaging are not scanner experts, so simplified, point-and-click solutions that deliver high quality images and integration with business applications are essential.
Visioneer OneTouch is an easy to use utility that connects you to a powerful set of scanner settings to greatly improve the efficiency of your workflow--so that with one touch, the document is scanned automatically to email, or Word, or your printer, or simply a file folder. In addition to scanning direct to all popular destinations, Visioneer OneTouch also links you to industry-leading document management software, such as Microsoft SharePoint, Xerox DocuShare, and DocuWare--forming an easy to use workflow from paper to a selected destination. A Software Development Kit (SDK) is also available which provides the ability to develop specific links and integrate them into the Visioneer OneTouch control panel quickly and easily.
This product integrates Kofax VRS image enhancement technology into the OneTouch scanning process. VRS is the gold-standard in image improvement technology. Imperfect originals are automatically turned into perfect scans that are easier to read. OCR results are dramatically improved, file size is decreased and scans look at clear as the originals. Every page is custom corrected automatically so you can batch together clean, laser quality documents with your imperfect originals--the results are amazing.
You can use the text in virtually any word processing, desktop publishing or web publishing program. It eliminates the need for retyping documents.
PaperPort is the easiest way to turn volumes of paper into organized digital files that you can quickly find, use and share. Stop wasting time looking for paper documents scattered around your office. Products using PaperPort allow you to scan documents directly to PDF files.
PaperPort supports one-click creation of PDF files from Microsoft Office documents and supports Print-to-PDF using other Microsoft Windows applications. A wide range of image formats can also be converted into PDF--including TIFF, MAX, JPG, BMP and GIF. PaperPort can help you find any document on your PC instantly. Just type in a word or phrase and PaperPort will bring up the correct document immediately. Scan to network drives by adding new destinations to the PaperPort folder list allows scanning direct to the desired location. Scan directly to your My Documents folder or to a network drive.

This review is from: Xerox DocuMate 515 Flatbed Fast Simplex ADF ColorScanner with One Touch PDF and VRS Image Enhancement (XDM5155D-WU) (Office Product)
I purchased a Xerox Documate 515 on Feb. 26, 2010 as my old Visoneer 9450 is not compatible with Windows 7 - nor will it be. The Documate 515 was recommended as a compatible replacement. Read all the literature and ordered it. Arrived in quick order. Due to a heavy traveling schedule however, it was not installed until March 26th. I Flatbed scanned a test a page and it scanned just fine. I did not however use the ADF to scan multiple pages. I registered the product this very day - March 26th, 2010. Back to a heavy traveling schedule and the Scanner was not used again to scan even one document after its initial set-up on March 26th, until early April. I noticed that it would frequently "freeze" half way through a page. Had to turn it off and try again. Sometimes it would scan sometimes it would freeze - more often it "Froze".
Multiple page scans would freeze after the very first page. Most frustrating. Called Visioneer who recommended the scanner as a likely Visoneer 9450 replacement. They referreed me to PaperPort - manuafacture of the software used to scan my documents. They referred me to Xerox. Called Xerox on April 8th, 2010. They suggested I try connecting it to a Laptop and see if that corrected the problem. IT consultant was next scheduled for and came April 14th and we did just that, connected the USB cable to a laptop - still freezes with great regularity. Have to pull the page out of the scanner after turning it off and then on again. Called Xerox tech support on April 14th - how long is the USB cable they asked? 10 feet I said. That is probably the problem they informed - try a 4 foot cable. At four feet the scanner has to damn near sit on top of the computer and if not on top, I have virtually no place to put the scanner anywhere near the computer. This corrected the problem completely - single sheet, multile page scans - no freezing. I informed Xerox Tech Support that my Visoneer was working just fine with a 12 foot USB cable with virtually no problems. USB 2.0 Specifications is 5 METERS I informed and that four feet is just barely over 1 METER. The requirement to use a 4 four cable was NO where in their literature and had I known this I never would have purchased this product. I was then informed that ALL Xerox Scanners require a four foot USB Cable - "might" work with a 6 foot but that's a "might" they informed. Unacceptable - It is now April 14th and I am "Out of Warranty" for something I was never informed of - a four foot cable requirment. Nothing they could, or "would" do for me. Purchase a Xerox Sanner if you will - personally, I will never purchase another Xerox product of any kind for fear of what they don't tell me in their literature and also for their total lack of customer care.

This review is from: Xerox DocuMate 515 Flatbed Fast Simplex ADF ColorScanner with One Touch PDF and VRS Image Enhancement (XDM5155D-WU) (Office Product)
This scanner is a pretty good bang for your buck. On average it scans 12ppm, which is close to the 15ppm it advertises. Like other reviewers have said, it is a better idea to download the driver off the Xerox website than install the outdated driver from the CD. The Paperport and OmniPage software can be a bit confusing at first, but is easily learned. The Omnipage program provides good OCR ability, with about 90% accuracy with common fonts based on my tests, but doesn't always get styles, specifically boldface, correct. Using the flatbed scanner, all pictures and documents seem to be slightly tilted, despite checking and ensuring it lines up with the edge of the glass. That problem can be fixed by a simple rotation of the image, so it's not too bad. Also, the scanner does take up a lot of space, so make sure you have a place for it to sit. Overall, it's a good buy if you don't run into driver issues with it.

Seems to do what I need to do in a small office. I don't use fancy or advanced features, but I needed something that supports TWAIN. No complaints after over a year of using it.
