Documentation Model
Based on the principle "one picture is worth a thousand words", this Documentation Model documents the quality system of an automotive-parts manufacturer, who's business activities are the design, manufacturing, marketing, sales, distribution and servicing of their own product line as well as the manufacture of custom made parts and products. This quality system covers the requirements of QS-9000 (ISO 9001 and ISO 9002 ), including the sector-specific requirements of Production Parts Approval Process (PPAP), Continuous Improvement and Manufacturing Capabilities. As applicable, QS-9000 guidelines for Advanced Product Quality Planning, PPAP, Measurement Systems Analysis, Fundamental Statistical Process Control and Potential Failure Mode and Effects Analysis are followed. This document can be used by any type of manufacturing company as an example or guidance when preparing the documentation for a quality system that meets QS-9000 requirements. The manual outlines the company's quality policy and how activities which affect quality are to be performed. Quality System Procedures structured by QS-9000 elements define compliance and responsibilities to meet QS-9000 requirements. Detailed operating procedures define activities and responsibilities of Management, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Toolroom, Engineering, Purchasing, Sales/Customer Service and Warehouse. Since the model provides detailed examples, it facilitates the development of the required documentation, eliminates guess work, setbacks and uncountable moments of frustration for the QS-9000-novice in charge of implementing QS-9000 in an organization.
