Minimal information,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dodge Dakota Pickup '87'96 (Haynes Manuals) (Paperback)
This manual does not even begin to let the owner know what or how to work on their vehicle. For a few dollars more I got the chrysler manual for my year pickup. I did not have to page thru extra information about manual vs. automatics or have to read information on three different years of models of my vehicle. If you want to have very good information then go for the original manual and forget this simpleton's view of automotives.

I concur with other reviews, vague/minimal information!,

To place it short and sweet, I also have found this mannual to be lacking in technical information. In the past I found Hanynes' manuals to be very informative, but this one needs a unconditional money back guarantee. It is very vague. It appears to be more of a maintance manual than a repair manual, which is the main reason I bought it!

This book tries to do too much. I needed to change my oil pressure sending unit in my Dakota and there is no reference to an oil pressure sending unit much less a picture of one in this book. A waste of time and money.

Great source of information without all the fluff of the internet. If you have the will to fix it, this book will probably be the quickest way to make you feel comfortable trying. I have owned one of these manuals for each of my last 3 vehicles and they have saved me literally thousands of dollars in repairs! I repair electronics for a living and grew up doing construction, these books were all I needed to feel comfortable tackling my own auto repairs being a hands on kind of guy. I would recommend these to anyone trying to repair their own cars or just to learn how to maintain a well running vehicle.

this manual does have a lot of useful information, but it also doesn't cover certain thing or sometimes doesn't cover them specifically enough that you could complete the repair with just the instructions( there is sometimes an extra hidden bolt, wire, or something that isn't mentioned)

My son and husband is so greatful that they were able to get this book. My son's first car is a 1994 Dakota Pick up truck. My husband and son are working on this truck together to get it running before my son turns 16 in just a few short months. Came in very helpfull

. I found half the information in it useless. Ive owned this manual about 6 years.Sometimes the info Im looking for is not in there or veige, yet Ive found it very useful. The problem is that it covers too broad of years. Manufacturers make too many changes, To cover all of it, this manual would be huge and expensive. I think Haynes does a reasonable job offering the info. My son had a 93, and I still own a 95'I wish it covered 91 to 96, instead. With that being said, I have used the manual a gazillion times and has solved my problem most of the time, Ive always bought Haynes manuals for my vehicles. And will continue to do so..

Dirty page maintenance,
By Bob Robinson (DF/W) - See all my reviews

I purchased this manual over a year ago and my Brother and I have replaced the carbeurator (87 only), head gasket, replaced radiatior and hoses, set rockers, learned the values of numerous electrical tasks we were stumbling over. The pages we use are referred to by us as dirty page maintenance, sort of a, been-there, done-that, symbolism. We are not mechanics, just broke enough to try the work ourselves. The manual has told, showed, and given hints to prevent oops-events. I give it Four Stars and have no reason not to give it Five.
