About the Author
Christy Hayes lives with her husband outside Atlanta, Georgia, with our their children and two dogs. She has a journalism degree from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) and she's a member of Romance Writers of America and the Women’s Fiction Chapter of Romance Writers of America. She's been writing seriously since 2004 and made the decision to indie publish in 2011. Christy writes romance and romantic women’s fiction from her little basement office in the South. She's cooked up all kinds of trouble for her flawed characters when she's not driving her kids to one sporting event or another or walking her pesky rescue mutts through the neighborhood. I've found having a kindle is very expensive. Reading is my entertainment so I go through a lot of books, usually very quickly. I've started downloading every free book that sounds okay in hopes of a few of them being good, Dodge the Bullet fit in that category. It was a easy ready with likable and real characters. I would recommend it for all romance readers!

After two years of mourning her lost husband Sarah Woodward is finally ready to step back into life and take control. To do this she is making a break from her, her sons, and her late husbands old home in Atlanta and moving to the vacation home in the small town of Hailey, Colorado. Where she plans to run the ranch and though her two sons are not happy about the move she hopes they will eventually come around.
On her first day there she meets A.J. Dodge, who was asked, as a favor from his friend to go check on her and make sure she got off on the right foot.
A Colorado Senator needs the land she is on if he is to hold up his end of the deal with a land developer; he thought it would be easy for the widow to see she couldn't deal with a ranch and two kids but with Dodge getting in his way he just might have to convince her to sell some other way...
I really enjoyed this novel--a one-day read for me. It was pretty fast paced and kept my attention pretty much from the first page also the attraction between Dodge and Sarah was palpable from the first moment they met and very interesting to see play out.
Especially with the hints of danger we have underling most of the novel.
The only thing I didn't really like about the novel was that around the ending--when the action is about to go down--it seems kind of drawn out. It does add to the suspense a little but other than that I think I might have liked it more if it had just played out. Other than that though and that might not even be something everyone feels should be so--I really liked the novel and I look forward to picking up more from this author.

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review. I've got to say I was a little wary of it when I first started reading, but by the end of it I could say that it wasn't that bad of a book.
Dodge comes across as a conceited, rough and tumble don't mess with me rancher. Of course, that's not really who he is. He's actually sweet, caring, and dealing with a slew of personal issues. Not to mention smart and business savvy. I really like Dodge, a few times he got to be a little too whiny for me and I wanted to tell him to suck it up and move on with life.
Sarah is a very headstrong character. She's one of the few female characters I can say I've actually liked all the way through a book. More than once she stood up to Dodge when he took the almighty male protector role. When they finally figured out the Senator was up to something that would hurt her she didn't back off and let others figure things out. She was right in the middle, leading the way most of the time.
This is more than just Sarah and Dodge. However, the development of their relationship was my favorite part. The problems with the senator added tension to the story, but I kind of wished it wouldn't haven't been as long as it was. A couple of times I felt like it drug out. Christy tells the story from many different points of views, and that became confusing more than once.
Overall I'd recommend this for a good quick read. Dodge and Sarah are great and make the book a decent read.

This was an interesting story of one woman's need to survive a sudden tragedy - the death of her husband. Her need to move herself away from the things and places that reminded her of what could have been if her husband was still alive made her make a decision to move from familiar surroundings to the virtual unknown. This meant uprooting her children and hereself and literally going into unfamiliar territory and situations. Her belief and determination that no matter what the circumstances and obstacles things would and could turn around to her and her sons' benefit.
It did and not only were the obstacles that seem unsurmountable resolved but she was able to find a new love.

The ending seemed to be a little too abrupt for me...I wanted more than it gave me at the end. I guess I am use to reading christian romance books and some scenes were a little too much for me...they could've skipped them and I would've been all the merrier. I was sucked into this book and did end up staying up till 2:00am reading it. If you like a quick read romance novel, somewhat predictable, with an abrupt ending...then go for it. It just wasn't entirely for me.

Quick read, rather boring with the fact that the story just seemed to drag on and on - repeating the same story line over and over. At least it was a free download otherwise would have been annoyed to have spent money on it.
