Notes on the historic lake monster conference held in Shelburne, Vermont, 29 August 1981. Includes limnological notes on Lake Champlain, a chronology of lake monster sightings, and reprints of various older newspaper articles on Champ, the alleged lake monster.
I first became interested in the fascinating field of cryptozoology as a young boy after reading magazine articles on the Yeti and Bigfoot. My interest in the field grew throughout adolescence. Later in college, I began conducting formal research in this field, and eventually wrote my Masters Thesis on the "Theoretical Population Estimates of Large Aquatic Animals in Selected Freshwater Lakes of North America".
Over the last 40 years I collected a large collection of historical documents, reports and newspaper clippings and have worked with some of the fields great pioneers including Dr. Roy Markal and Bernard Heuvelmans, the "father" of modern cryptozoology.
In 2007, my co-author Dwight G.Smith and I published "Does Champ Exist?". It is our first full length book. Which is about the possible existence of the legendary monster "Champ" rumored to inhabit Lake Champlain.
Currently I am working on six books including a two-volume set about sea serpents.
I owe in part some of my success to my good friend and mentor Dr. Arthur E. Gagnon. Over the years his encouragement, coaching, and technical advice, have assisted and helped me to continue my research and writings.
