Editorial Reviews

GO ON THE PROWL WITH THIS REAL-LIFE BILLY THE KID. It’s not that Dog--the self-professed best bounty hunter in the world--dislikes criminals; it’s just that he’s hell-bent on making America a safer place. Clad in his trademark sleeveless wear with a can of mace holstered like a .45 Magnum at his side, this ex-con turned born-again Christian is every fugitive’s worst nightmare (with 6,000 captures and counting!). From Honolulu to Colorado, no door is strong enough to stop Dog and his fearsome posse. With bone-jarring action and theme music by Ozzy Osbourne DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER: THE BEST OF SEASON ONE features Dog’s hand-picked favorite episodes from the debut season of this sensational A&E real-life adventure series. Episode 1 (8/31/04): Meet the Chapmans, Episode 2 (8/31/04): Father and Son, Episode 4 (9/28/04): The Godfather of Waikiki, Episode 8 (10/5/04): Hide and Seek (Part 1), Epiosde 9 (10/5/04): Hide and Seek (Part 2), Episode 10 (10/12/04): Justin’s Big Day, Episode 11 (10/26/04): It’s Good To Be Home. 5.0 out of 5 stars I love the show and I am not into reality TV!, September 28, 2005

This review is from: Dog the Bounty Hunter - The Best of Season 1 (DVD)
I have never written an online review for anything, but I have to admit that I stop what I am doing to catch Dog the Bounty Hunter. I have been in the field of human services for abut 20 years now, working with homeless people for over seven and for 11 years in Child Protective Services and I get the feeling that "Dog" and family are "real." They are great at what they do, tough, yet compassionate. It comes through in the TV show and it works for me. I don't watch ANY other reality TV, but I laugh and cry and cheer over these folks. Keep up the good work! These are not hypocrites. They need to use these episodes to help train Social Workers and other people who interact with people who need tough love. We need more "Dogs" and "Beths" in this world.

5.0 out of 5 stars As real as it gets..., May 24, 2005
By
This review is from: Dog the Bounty Hunter - The Best of Season 1 (DVD)
This is an excellent series, because it is as close to real "reality" TV as you can get. Not only are they apprehending criminals, but they are sticking together as a family and trying to teach the people they catch a valuable lesson on life, which makes this series much more enveloping than other shows. Chapman is very brave in the fact that he doesn't use a gun to apprehend bail-jumpers. A class-act show that I thoroughly enjoy every time I watch it. I hope they bring out the entire season and eventually the series as it develops in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Job Dog! I tip my hat to you and your family., July 25, 2005
This review is from: Dog the Bounty Hunter - The Best of Season 1 (DVD)
I started watching this show one evening just to see what it was all about, and now I am hooked!! I love it and wouldnt ever miss it! I love the family members bonding together to build a good, strong, solid family business, staying strong for each other no matter what happens.
They go out into the world, and face the enemy, to apprehend these dangerous people, putting them away so we all can be safe.
It takes alot of courage and faith to do what they do.You can see that he truely cares about these people by warning them that unless they change and turn their lives around, they are in for a lifetime of prison or death.
Its all about choices, and taking responsibility for their actions. Dog is well aware of what being a "bad boy" means, and tells it from the heart. With all of Dog's past experiences being on the wrong side of the law and how it deeply affected his sons, grandfather and father he wants to help. I truely admire him for turning his life around. After he apprehends them, he hears their story, and feels so badly for them, eyes full of tears because they have touched his heart. He wants to give them another chance like someone once did for him. Who in the world could ever truely imagine and understand how these criminals think and feel, but one who has suffered the pain and horror for himself ? Its like a youth counselor, who has never been around kids. How would they know?
