I love the show and I am not into reality TV!,

This review is from: Dog the Bounty Hunter - The Best of Season 1 (DVD)
I have never written an online review for anything, but I have to admit that I stop what I am doing to catch Dog the Bounty Hunter. I have been in the field of human services for abut 20 years now, working with homeless people for over seven and for 11 years in Child Protective Services and I get the feeling that "Dog" and family are "real." They are great at what they do, tough, yet compassionate. It comes through in the TV show and it works for me. I don't watch ANY other reality TV, but I laugh and cry and cheer over these folks. Keep up the good work! These are not hypocrites. They need to use these episodes to help train Social Workers and other people who interact with people who need tough love. We need more "Dogs" and "Beths" in this world.

As real as it gets...,

This review is from: Dog the Bounty Hunter - The Best of Season 1 (DVD)
This is an excellent series, because it is as close to real "reality" TV as you can get. Not only are they apprehending criminals, but they are sticking together as a family and trying to teach the people they catch a valuable lesson on life, which makes this series much more enveloping than other shows. Chapman is very brave in the fact that he doesn't use a gun to apprehend bail-jumpers. A class-act show that I thoroughly enjoy every time I watch it. I hope they bring out the entire season and eventually the series as it develops in the future.

I started watching this show one evening just to see what it was all about, and now I am hooked!! I love it and wouldnt ever miss it! I love the family members bonding together to build a good, strong, solid family business, staying strong for each other no matter what happens.
They go out into the world, and face the enemy, to apprehend these dangerous people, putting them away so we all can be safe. It takes alot of courage and faith to do what they do.You can see that he truely cares about these people by warning them that unless they change and turn their lives around, they are in for a lifetime of prison or death. Its all about choices, and taking responsibility for their actions. Dog is well aware of what being a "bad boy" means, and tells it from the heart. With all of Dog's past experiences being on the wrong side of the law and how it deeply affected his sons, grandfather and father he wants to help. I truely admire him for turning his life around. After he apprehends them, he hears their story, and feels so badly for them, eyes full of tears because they have touched his heart. He wants to give them another chance like someone once did for him. Who in the world could ever truely imagine and understand how these criminals think and feel, but one who has suffered the pain and horror for himself ? Its like a youth counselor, who has never been around kids. How would they know?

An Awesome DVD!! Dog The Bounty Hunter Rules!!,
By NightHunter (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dog the Bounty Hunter - The Best of Season 1 (DVD)
Dog the bounty hunter is the best show on TV today! The DVD of his greatest exploits is simply awesome too! Believe you me: You haven't seen or heard The Dog until you've seen and heard him in DVD quality!
Duane "Dog" Chapman is a truly good man! I really admire the way he does his best to fight crime by taking down the fugitives, and also to further fight crime by attempting to change their ways. It may not work every time, but if you only changed one life, then you have accomplished something wonderful! And I am sure he has changed many lives! Sure there will always be losers like Lyin' "Ryan" and "Mr. Pathetic" (who not only can't write a decent review but they probably also sleep with a nite-lite!) but it doesn't matter what a couple of fools think, because the Dog wasn't born the world's greatest and most famous bounty hunter... he came from nothing and raised himself to where he is today! He overcame all obstacles thrown in his way, and made it to the top of his chosen profession! And he is also a great role model for young and old alike! The "Dog" is a real life super hero!! May he and his wonderful show enjoy many more years of continued success!! Rock on Dog!!

GREAT DVD! Great show!,

I became a fan of Dog The Bounty Hunter back when the show first started, and have become hooked on the show. The 1st searson DVD is great and I have watched it over and over, but I think it would be better to have the entire season on DVD, not just a handful of the shows. The only way they could improve the series is to show more of Leland!! (h-o-t-t!!) My favorite episode is "Father and Son", (I could watch Leland boxing for a long time!)

Fun series with an interesting cast,

This review is from: Dog the Bounty Hunter - The Best of Season 1 (DVD)
If you haven't actually seen the series and are interested in checking it out, this is a great way to get started with it. The cast is human, interesting, and enjoyable to watch, and you never get tired of seeing the 'Dog' get his man.
The humanitarian side to the series really gives you a different feeling from other law enforcement shows like 'cops'. These fugatives have two sides, which the show brings to the light through Dog's actions towards them. He is tough as nails during the hunt, then soft and compassionate afterwards. It's not just "Lets throw this scumabg in jail". Dog seeks to rehabilitate the people he catches by using the hammer of justice and jail time combined with a softer "Hey I've been there, Bro, and I pulled myself out of it... you can to." approach. I rated this DVD a 4 only because I would have gladly paid more for a full seasons worth and am disappointed this is the only offering. Still, a great series and you'll definitely enjoy these episodes!

Canadian Mounty in Paradise,

This review is from: Dog the Bounty Hunter - The Best of Season 1 (DVD)
If you could combine Billy the Kid, Wyatt Earp a Canadian Mounty and a blood hound...you have "DOG" Chapman. He restored my faith in giving people a second chance...but, nobody is above the law, not even his own son. Everybody can see a little bit of DOG in themselves. Don't miss this one or the show on A&E...the best show on TV.

Reality You Can Believe In,

First of all, and to get it out of the way, Methinks Ryan doth protest too much. Very simple: don't like it, don't watch it. No need to expend the effort writing a critique if he didn't like it unless he just wanted the attention.
Now, I believe this is an absolutely wonderful show (psst, Ryan pay attention) for the following reasons. 1. So much of television nowadays is 'reality based' and most of the programs are lacking in interest and/or quality. Not so with this one. There is always something new that occurs and one never knows just what the outcome will be. 2. Duane 'Dog' Chapman is a man who was not afraid to have admitted mistakes he may have made in the past and, in fact, is a better man for having done so. Shows us that he is human. Honesty and integrity. 3. The show shows just how important the interdependency of family members can be. The family is a team and without the team there isn't much of a family. 4. Each member of the family is not afraid to admit his or her faults. This makes each person much more real and people that each of us can relate to in a much deeper way. 5. The family demonstrates and conveys, through their praying, that there is a higher Being that guides and protects each of us and that it is okay to ask for His help. 6. Were the show to just focus on the hunting down and apprehending of criminals then it would be lacking and become just another routine reality show. But what happens after the apprehending? "Hey man, you screwed up. You are a criminal and you have to go to jail.' Then: 'I've been there brother. I know what you are going through. And even though you are bad, I see some redeeming qualities in you and I will do what I can to help you.' That is the definition of class! And so, I would highly recommend this and any DVD about this show to anyone. You will not be disappointed!

This review is from: Dog the Bounty Hunter - The Best of Season 1 (DVD)
hands down the BEST SHOW ON T.V., dog and his "family" are the most entertaining people on the tube. this mix of cop show and everyday life of dog and family gives you more than a little excitement,it shows you a family taht fights, yells, and other wise gets on each others nerves, but they come together in times of need and they always look out for each other no matter what. they even take pity on the people they bring in to jail. i really can't say why, but i never miss this show and was happy to find it on dvd.
