extremely informative,

This review is from: Dog Breeding for Professionals (Hardcover)
This is a well written book, easy for the novice breeder tofollow. I have referred to this book time and again over the pastseveral years. Although easy to read, the layout of information makes it hard to find specific subjects unless you have made it a point to mark pages.

Good book but OLD!,

This review is from: Dog Breeding for Professionals (Hardcover)
I ordered this from amazon and amazon shows a cover of the book and says its date is 1998. When I got the book it was a completely different cover and the publish date inside said 1978. No other date than that one and whats with the change of the cover? This cover is blue with a puppy on the front. Looks like they may have updated the cover but nothing else. However, the information inside is very good and covers a lot of stuff and pretty accurate still for 2002. It is worth buying even though the picture quality is very poor black and white newspaper print type, the information alone is worth the price of the book. I would however buy it used if I were to buy it over again. There are some colored photo's in the middle of the book of breeds, but also not very good quality either.

I received this book from an old breeder friend of mine when my dog was going to have puppies. The photo's are little graphic, but essential if this is your first litter. There's no fancy stuff here, just good old basic information. I had no idea how far back to cut the umbilical cord, now I know. Get this book to keep on hand. I have referred back to and have it out right now in 2011, because I am expecting another litter. Buy this book used because it is old. I can't say enough good things about this book and I manage a pet store with plenty of books to choose from.
