After seeing the Weinermobile come to my town, I have since wondered what it would be like to drive one around. Well, this book tells the tale of the twists and turns, ups and downs, of a year driving the Weinermobile. Dave Ihlenfeld does a great job detailing the process of joining the ranks of the Weinermobile drivers, the highs and lows of touring the country in these so-called vehicles, all the while giving some interesting history of Oscar Meyer's most recognizable icon and some fun personal stories and adventures as well!

A fun and easy read. I highly recommend this book!

This is a well written, humorous, fast read. It's about the ups and downs of driving the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. I enjoyed hearing about this iconic automobile from WHY he wanted this job, to HOW he got the job and WHAT he learned from it at the end. Great book for everyone.

In a world of war, terrorists, and economic instability, put yourself inside the Weinermobile. Take a trip with Dave. Smile, Escape! Dog Days is a great memoir of fun, responsible young people driving the Weinermobile through the US and Europe. Well written. Great fun. And...if you are an older reader like myself, Dog Days might even remind you of the days of a little freer spirit. I am an avid reader. Few books are memorable. Dog Days is. I'm still smiling.

My months long hold of "Bossypants" came in at the library and I happened to pick this up from the new book rack as well. Really, it should have been the other way around. Tina Fey did not deliver. I actually skipped the end of her book which was both whiny and self-congratulatory and nowhere near funny. On the other hand, "Dog Days" came through with the goods, I was laughing on almost every page. It is the one that should have had 50 holds on it and took months to get. It's good enough that I'm going to actually buy a copy and give it to my college boy. Don't pass this one by, you won't be sorry.

Everything you wanted to know about the Wienermobile, but were afraid to ask. Very enjoyable read. You will relish reading about the pickles (sorry) Dave finds himself in on his year long journey inside the famous car. Forget the Batmobile this is the car you want to know about.

What do you do when you are about to graduate from college and have no idea what to do? Panic? Move in with your parents? Or grab the keys to a giant hot dog and take off across the country! For everyone who struggled to find their way, David reminds us not to miss out on the fun along the way, and not to settle for the "just OK." A great read from a promising new author juxtaposing the struggles of a generation searching for a meaningful career with the building of the Oscar Mayer processed meat empire- love it!

Anyone who can spend a year in a hot dog, write about it, then get you to read it - has got to be talented. You find it easy to relate to David -the under "dog"- and his escapades, and have real empathy for him.Especially when he was arrest for innocently heeding natures call! We have all done some dumb things, but with David telling it, it takes us to a new level of funniness. This is a lovable book!
