I have followed Deborah Samuel's career for some years, being a photographer myself. I am very familiar with her fashion, editorial and fine art work. She has a style very distinct unto herself.

"Dog" is a leap forward, into a whole new realm of photography, not only for Samuel, but any photographer! Not dogs dressed up in costumes. No. Dogs being themselves, as if they were alone and no one was watching.

It is amazing how she has managed to capture the personality of each breed!

If you , or anyone you know loves dogs, this book is a must!

Although it appears to be a book of dog photos, as you turn each page you realize that Deborah Samuel captured their souls. Each individual personality leaps from the page. Their eyes speak volumes. Their poses and smiles clearly indicate that they new exactly what was going on. Accomplices in a magical book of photos that everyone will enjoy.

I was thrilled to find these having bought a box of them YEARS ago and wished I had gotten case. Looked up the photographer and found them here. The stock is thick quality paper. As I write this I am thinking I better re-order.

This is the first time I have been inspired to post a review. Deborah's photographs are some the most beautiful black and white photos I have ever seen. My first thought when I started looking at her book was that I would love to have her take portraits of my dogs. Her work is inspiring and will break your heart. And, as a dog lover, I loved her subjects and the delightful way she choose to portray them. This -- and her book "Pup" -- is an absolute must for any artist, photographer or dog lover.

Deborah and I were neighbors when this book was released. I remember looking at the gallery proofs and falling in love with it then. The book is so well produced that it is like looking at her originals.

I return to this book often. The photos are extraordinary, and the commentary utterly charming. Deborah knows and understands dogs.

Happily, I had her photograph my golden. Her portrait, stunningly gorgeous, hangs on my wall.

As an amateur photographer who has an interest in pet photography as a business I really enjoyed Deborah Samuel's style of photography Her book is inspiring to me. Anyone who has an interst in dogs or loves to look at great photos would love to have this book. It makes a great coffee table book.
