Editorial Reviews

From the Author

How did "My Dog Does That!" originate?

When I wrote "Finally Home," it was a great experience for me, as I got to wander down memory lane with Buddy, Sr. by my side, laughing at the crazy things that he did throughout the years and marveling at the fact that we survived it all!  I was excited to write a book that did not have a sad ending and was able to look into his eyes when I wrote the last page, give him a high-five and say "We finished, Bud.  A humorous book all about you." Though definitely not a funny book, I felt it needed to be written if, for nothing else but to make people aware of the severity of both canine cancer and canine grief.  Many times those grieving the loss of a pet feel helplessly alone and I wanted to express exactly how I felt about that loss.

As if he needed any more of an ego boost!

For any of the dog-related events or book signings that were going to take place, I had planned to bring Buddy with me.  I was lucky enough to have him sign a few of the first printed copies and still have his little smudge of a footprint that I will treasure forever.

Unfortunately, shortly after I had published it, Buddy, sr. had been diagnosed with terminal cancer, which eventually led me to write my next dog-related book titled, "Final Journey."

Once that was published, I stuck to mainly writing thrillers for a while, but still had many ideas for dog-related stories.  Like so many individuals, I love reading stories about dogs...or any animals really.  Being a die-hard dog lover, I find myself engrossed in conversations about dogs all of the time and each person always is more than enthusiastic about sharing their experiences, and blurting out "My Dog Does That!...hence evolving the premise for "My Dog Does That!"
I had a lot of fun writing this one, as it does not focus on life or death, but purely the funny, ironic, weird, nutty, bizarre, embarrassing, frustrating, eerie, adorable, lovable  (and many other) behaviors that all dogs exhibit every once in a while.

If you've ever felt that your dog stories may seem a little outrageous, you're not alone.  Look no further.  Don't be surprised if you even blurt out a few times, "My Dog Does That!"

About the Author

I live in Las Vegas, NV with my husband, two golden retrievers and one Nova Scotia duck tolling retriever. I started writing over fifteen years ago, mostly technical manuals with a little added pizzazz. I've also been writing my own novels since I was a teenager, however back then, they were either hand-written in penmanship that was barely legible or type-written. Penmanship and typewriters. Do those words still exist? I wish I had saved some of those stories as I'm sure they would have been best-sellers. Okay, definitely not, but they would've been interesting to read all of these years later. I had written my first book, "Finally Home" in the early part of 2010. Throughout my years of living with Buddy, our golden retriever, I always wanted to get his stories down on paper. They were just too comical to keep to myself. If you're reading this, then you might as well know, I am a die-hard dog lover and they are my inspiration for writing. I volunteer with a few animal rescue groups throughout Las Vegas when time permits. Though not all of my books are for dog-lovers, most have dogs in them. I enjoy writing about their antics and incorporate them in a few of my thrillers. In addition, I donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each book to various animal rescue groups. You might also want to know that I am an indie author. Yep, I self-publish all of my books, create my own covers and format my own books. Lastly, I have a very dark mind and an equally off-beat and witty sense of humor. Sometimes you'll find it revealed in my books. Hope you enjoy them and many thanks for stopping by.

More About the Author

"Raising awareness about dog adoption and rescue, one book at a time!"

I live in Las Vegas, NV with my husband and three retrievers. I started writing over fifteen years ago, mostly technical manuals with a little added pizzazz. I've also been writing my own novels since I was a teenager, however back then, they were either hand-written in penmanship that was barely legible or type-written. Penmanship and typewriters. Speaking of typewriters, didn't you just love it when the keys used to get tangled together? That was fun. Or how about the high tech white-out that was the stone-age version of our modern computer backspace key. Those were good times. Ah, but I digress!

I had written my first book about dogs, Finally Home in the early part of 2010. Though not all of my books are for dog-lovers, most do have a dog making an appearance now and then. I enjoy writing about their antics and incorporate them in a few of my thrillers. In addition, I donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each book to various animal rescue groups. Since 2010, I've written ten books consisting of five books about dogs, one inspirational book of quotes and four thrillers.

You might also want to know that I am an indie author. Yep, I self-publish all of my books, create my own covers and format my own books. It has been a learning experience and after two years, I've learned more and more about the world of publishing. Even through the trial and error stage, it has been a fascinating experience. I've met a wonderful group of creative indie authors, as well as dog-lovers and readers in general from all over the world. The support, advice and wisdom I have received has been phenomenal.

You may notice that I have a very dark mind and an equally off-beat and witty sense of humor. Sometimes you'll find it revealed in my books. Hope you enjoy them and many thanks for stopping by.

Elizabeth Parker is a talented writer who uses her story-telling abilities to write both novels and non-fiction works. My Dog Does That is filled with her observations of her, and other people's, dogs which will have most dog owners nodding their heads and saying "My dog does that!" The stories will bring a smile to your face, have you laughing, and at times bring tears to your eyes. Through Liz's eyes you'll get a glimpse of life with man's best friends; through her personal experience, you'll learn little tips about training and caring for your dog. Very entertaining and enjoyable, My Dog Does That is also a quick and easy read. Even if you don't own a dog, I believe anyone who loves animals will enjoy reading this book. - Sheila Rae Myers, Author

I love this book! It is laugh out loud funny when she describes funny things that our dogs do. I caught myself saying "yep, yep, my dog does that too!" Very light-hearted and fun book with pictures of her rescue dogs included.

A fun book that all dog owners can relate to. While most authors just say, "I've had many dogs," Elizabeth gives descriptions and photos of all the dogs that have been in her life. Knowing about her previous dogs and experiences shapes the stories to come. You will find yourself finishing your own version of "You Know You're a Dog Lover When You..." Be prepared to nod your head in agreement throughout the whole book. And after reading this book, you will agree - dogs, what's not to love?

This could have been such an enjoyable experience. It was done with a lot of feeling and limited expertise.
There should have been a professional editing job. As it is it was dreary and repetitive.
