I LOVE this book! On Halloween night when Mandy opened the front door there was a Golden Retriever sitting there. The dog seems to be very stressed and upset. When Mandy is allowed to keep the dog she soon finds out the dog is pregnant and theres not long to wait! When the dog gives birth to 3 or 4 puppies now Mandy has to find the dog's owner! The dog's name is Kimble. And pretty soon Kimble and her little puppies will have to find their home! Will mandy be able to find the owner? Read to find out!

4.0 out of 5 stars Dog at the Door a review by Mallory, December 18, 2002

Have you ever taken care of an abandoned animal? Well, Mandy Hope has. Mandy and her parents have a place for abandoned animals called Animal Ark. In this great book Dog at the Door by Ben M. Baiglo one day Mandy was making dinner in the kitchen and there was a knock at the door. Mandy was scared to open the door and suddenly she faced her fears. There was a golden retriever and its leash was caught on a flower pot so she couldn't get to the door. Mandy unhooked the dog and then took her into the house. The dog just looked around and whimpered. Then she layed in front of the stove. Mandy then saw that this dog was pregnant and thought, "Why would someone abandon a pregnant dog." A little bit later her dad came downstairs.
"My, what do we have here?" Dr. Hope asked.
"Dad, can we keep the dog here?" Mandy questioned.
"Let me check the dog out but don't get your hopes up about the dog staying here. Its owner will call," Dr. Hope explained. Dr. Hope took the dog to his office to check her out. After he left Mrs. Hope came home.
"What's for dinner?" Mrs. Hope asked.
"Soup," Mandy replied delightedly.
"Well, the dog is ok, but she sure is pregnant. She'll be ready to have her pups any day now," Dr. Hope addressed as he brought the dog back into the kitchen.
"Dad, can the dog stay here to have her pups?" Mandy asked anxiously.
"I don't know Mandy. The Reserve might take the dog and take care of her there," Dr. Hope replied. Then there was a phone call for Dr. Hope. He was on the phone for quite a while and Mandy was anxiously waiting to see if the dog could stay. After ten minutes Dr. Hope came back to the kitchen.
"Can she stay?" Mandy asked.
"Can she?" Mrs. Hope added.
"Well..." Dr. Hope started.

5.0 out of 5 stars DOg At The Door review, June 14, 2007
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Dog at the Door (Animal Ark #25) (Paperback)
Hello Reader,

The book I read was "Dog at the Door" by Ben M. Baglio. This book is about this girl named Mandy who helps her mom take care of animals at an Animal Ark. On Halloween night she gets ready to pass out candy when she sees a Golden Retriever tied up. She goes close to it to help it. Then, she realizes the dog is pregnant and there is not long before the puppies arrive. What will happen to the dog and puppies read to find out.

I really liked this book. I liked it because it was extremely interesting and fun. I also liked it because it's about dogs, my favorite animal. Another thing I liked about this book is that the characters like to take care of animals just like I do. I hope by reading this, you'll want to choose this book to read in the future.
