I rather enjoyed this book. No, it definitely is not another cutesy dog book. Rather it is more of an academic study of the relationship between man and dog. There is a chapter on Bestiality which may offend some people, but I personally was pleased to see someone have the courage to deal with this 'forbidden' subject.

This was an interesting book that has a lot going for it, of particular interest to me was the section on "bestiality," I wanted to see how the author treated this subject.
The portion on bestiality begins around page 145 in the chapter "sex and the single dog" by including some words from Midas Dekker's, author of "Dearest Pet," and the Kinsey studies have also been included in brief in this chapter.
References to the Greek mythology includes women with bears, apes, bulls, goats, horses, ponies, wolves, snakes and more.
It goes on to include more of the findings.
Other than to touch somewhat briefly on this topic, it goes into dog loss, dog law, breeding and much more.

This book looks like it has potential, but be aware that there's a short chapter on bestiality. It's very academic and well done, but I wouldn't give it as a gift to anybody even remotely prudish.

This is one of the most attractive dog-book I've ever read. You will get more understanding about the world of your beloved dog, that actually, we can humanize dog. The scope of this book is about dog's life, dog's manner, dog's soul, and....I can't mention all of them. Buy this book, and you will understand by yourself !

Don't be fooled. This is NOT a book filled with heart-warming stories of dog-human relationships as the title and the cover picture suggest. In fact, this book could be very disturbing for people who consider themselves dog lovers. So disappointed and disgusted I returned it to the bookstore the next day. Don't buy it.

You will find more and more and more about your loving dog ! You won't be sorry for buying this book. Excellent. First I bought this book because it's about dog and it's on sale (just like that). But later, when I read it, obviously it's not just an ordinary dog-book, this one is extraordinary !

I bought this book primarily for the bestiality chapters, but found it mouch more than just that. Insightful and fun. It was a great read. Thanks!

If you are one of the dog-lovers, this one is a must-have. You'll find out why....This is unputdownable. I've read the hardcover edition of this book.

_Dog Love_ reads like a dry PhD dissertation; as a former college instructor, I can appreciate the research involved in this text. That said, the chapter entitled "Sex and the Single Dog" contained a litany of references to bestiality in literature. My concerns are for readers, especially the young and their guardians, who expect to read stories of inspiration but are instead inducted into a perverse exploitation of dogs. Kudos to Amazon.com for warning readers through reviews such as this [unlike one of your competitors who has now lost my business].
