5.0 out of 5 stars Not just for toddlers....
My husband bought this book for our 4 year old (who is famous among everyone we know for being both a book lover and a dog lover), and it is, not surprisingly, one of her favorites. She took it to her pre-K class today, and when I picked her up, her teachers were raving about it! They said that they read it at least three times to the class, and that it was the hit of...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as "touchy" as expected
My daughter absolutely loves "Tails"--we have to read that to her practically every night. She loves all of the different textures and fabrics there are to touch. So, thinking that "Dog" would be similar, I got that for her. "Dog" is basically just a compendium of dog pictures, with a few pull-tab tail wags thrown in (and one peeing, which I admit is kinda cute). There...

My husband bought this book for our 4 year old (who is famous among everyone we know for being both a book lover and a dog lover), and it is, not surprisingly, one of her favorites. She took it to her pre-K class today, and when I picked her up, her teachers were raving about it! They said that they read it at least three times to the class, and that it was the hit of the day! The fun starts before the book is even opened. The tails of the three dogs on the cover are touch and feel furry, or wag with the pull of a tab. It just gets better from there. This book is packed with a wide variety of clever and creative interactive tricks that are well integrated with the entertaining verbiage. The book is, in fact, clever enough to engage my husband and myself, and our older children; even my college aged daughter is currently petting, pulling and generally getting a kick out of this book as I write this review. I am online now to order another copy as a gift to my daughter's preschool in her name. Otherwise, she will want to bring this book to school every day for the rest of the year! We highly recommend this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Doggone Fun!!, March 9, 2007
This review is from: Dog (Hardcover)
I love dogs, so when I saw this book in the store, I had to buy it for my two granddaughters, ages 1 and 3. They loved pulling the tabs to make the tails wag and especially to make the dog pee on the tree! The best part is that this book is very well constructed and can take lots of pulling and petting. Cute pictures and clever, too!

I bought this for my 1 yr old daughter and she just love it - in fact both myself and my husband thought this is one of the best interactive book we have bought out of our hundreds of books! Very sturdy , and very informative ( as it gives you all the names of breed of dogs that have appeared). I have no regret in buying this book at all !

Fun book, a little too thick to carry in the diaper bag for distractions, but lots of fun. Great interactive book. The "Alphabet" book by the same author is better though.

Very similiar to the "Cats" book written by the same author. My daughter (16mos.)
loved the Cats and seems to like this book as well. There is also a "Tails" book and soon there will be a farm animals book called "Moo" all by the same writer and photographer. ****

5.0 out of 5 stars A most amazing book, November 22, 2007
This review is from: Dog (Hardcover)
This board book takes moving parts to a whole new level! Mostly, it's the tails...very sturdily constructed so it should hold up for some time, this book should have great appeal for a young child with a dog in the household!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good book.Entertaining for parents too!, February 25, 2007
This review is from: Dog (Hardcover)
My husband and I really love this book. We have two dogs so we bought this for our son. It's so cute and entertaining! We don't mind reading it over and over. It's a very clever idea, not your run of the mill feel and move book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Utterly charming and fun!, February 9, 2007

Being a dog owner and parent I was naturally predisposed to like this book. Like? No...love, adore...smile and giggle over it with repeated announcements that "this book is adorable!" The rhyming description of dogs and what they do is so engaging, and one can't help but smile at the photographs. The textures and movable parts give the book an added "way cool" dimension (especially that last pull tab!!!) and the "cast list" pictures at the end identifying all the dogs by name and breed makes it all the more useful. This is a winner!

4.0 out of 5 stars Wounderful book., January 9, 2012

My 17 month old is a bit obsessed with dogs right now and she LOVES this book. The only down side, and I think it's my fault, is that I believe she's still a bit young for this book because of the flaps and moving parts. She gets really excited about pulling the flap out and pulled it right off :/ It didn't come off easily, it definitely need a really strong pull. Other then that she loves it. She pets all the dogs where they have fur to feel and laughs at the bulldog peeing. I would definitely recommend this book and will be buying another one in the near future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book, January 7, 2012
This review is from: Dog (Hardcover)
This book is perfect! My one year old sees the book and instantly becomes excited to read it. It's the perfect amount words, rhymes, touch-and-feel, pop-ups, and beautiful pictures. It instantly became a favorite in our house. The only downside to the book (which is minor) is that it is a bit heavy for her little hands to carry.
