Riotously funny angling novel similar to The River Why?,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Dog-Nose Chronicles: A Sporting Novel (Game & Fish Mastery Library) (Hardcover)
This a riotously funny angling and outdoors novel in the spirit of The River Why? by Duncan. Although it is not for everyone, if you have a passion for the outdoors and want to escape for a few hours this book is certainly worth buying. Its a shame that it hasn't received as much attention as other angling humor. Its the story of an ill-fated hunting and fishing guide as told by his assistant who, by his own account at least, created a myth and legend.

The Publishers Weekly review was obviously written by someone who never felt cold stream water creeping into his/her waders, never skinned a Muskrat and doesn't know what a wind knot can do to a cast. The plot (and I don't believe there is one, nor intended) is secondary. I first read excerpts of the "Chronicles" in Grays Sporting Journal many years ago. Glad to find them all in one piece in this book! This is not your Tapply/Zern/McManus humor. I have purchased many copies of the book to share with cohorts old and new; none said they didn't get it.
