Book Description

This exciting sequel to Key Lime Blues has it all !

A sexy relative who wants to teach Wes Darling the meaning of kissin’ cousins, a priceless centuries old manuscript, a three hundred pound redneck, and an ex-spy who thinks murder is a justifiable means of support are just a few of the things awaiting Wes when he sails into the Dog River in search of answers about the father he never knew.

Dog River Blues blends the mystique of the liveaboard boating lifestyle and the colorful characters and vagabonds who live, work, and sometimes commit murder on our nation’s waterways. This is one voyage to Mobile, Alabama you don’t want to miss.

About the Author

In September of 2003 my wife, Mary, and I moved aboard our 36-foot sailboat, Roughdraft. We sailed the boat from Minnesota to Mobile, Alabama where we lived for two years docked at a small marina. We also spent three months living at a mooring in Key West. Currently, the boat is docked in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. In 2011 we intend to take the boat to the Caribbean where we plan to drift until it is no longer fun. When I moved aboard it was my intention that I would write a novel. Six years later I have completed 3 mystery novels. The Storm Killer, Key Lime Blues (A Wes Darling Mystery), and Dog River Blues (A Wes Darling Mystery), are now available as paperbacks and eBooks.

3.0 out of 5 stars Dog River Blues September 23, 2012

The storyline was not very strong but the characters were colorful and
fun. The excellent writing overpowered a somewhat unbelievable plot. I
would definitely read another Mike Jastrzebski book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wes is a Darling! September 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the first story I've read featuring Wes darling. He's a great character- very likable and believable -and I had no trouble jumping right into this story. He's a nice guy who tries to do the right thing and finds himself getting beat up quite often. Actually reminds me a little of Jim Rockford from the old "Rockford Files" tv show;-) I will be reading more of this fun series by Mike Jastrzebski. I received a free copy of this book for review. I will happily pay full price for the rest of the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, easy read September 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I read this book without having read the previous Wes Darling mystery. I had not problems following the story, although it did link back to the first story some, that did not make it hard to read. This is a nice, well written mystery and I look foward to going back and reading the first part!

I found this book to be entertaining, not thought provoking. I sometimes read for pure fun and need something to read that doesn't need all my brain to complete. It was light (even though there was murder), it was funny and I found it to be entertaining. I just needed something light, some 'fluff' to read to while away some time. This fit the requirements and I chuckled at times over the funny parts.

3.0 out of 5 stars Some problems with a plot. December 4, 2012
By Yezory
Format:Kindle Edition
I did enjoy: colorful, alive characters. Language. Description of marina.
I did not enjoy: main character being trapped so many times I could not count. Is he really brainless? Police seems to be nonexistent in Alabama.

Good book! Kept me in suspense! Recommend it especially for people who love the water and boating life, and adventure around the water.

Yeah... I didn't finish this one. It was WAY over my squick level with the main character lusting after his cousin and her crawling all over him. I don't know if they alter found out they were not related... I don't care. I was grossed out.

Sorry. I am not prudish. It's creepy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Top notch mystery April 23, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This yarn is the second in the Wes Darling series. Wes is a former PI who lives on a boat and gets involved with messes and damsels in distress. In this tale, he heads to Alabama to reconnect with family and has varied adventures in boats and the swampy world of the Gulf Coast. The writing is clear. The action never stops and I am ready for the next book in this series whenever it gets published. Top notch book. It entertains.

One of the best books I've read in a long time. Exciting and a true look inside life in the bayou. All mystery readers don't miss this one because I could put it down.

1.0 out of 5 stars Started out good but ...
Loved the story was set in a marina but the story line was filled with violence. How many times can a guy get hit and knocked out with the butt of a gun and still get back up. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Hysterical characters in the true south. Wes Darling is no ordinary...
Mike knows how to write detail and present characters that are a little "off" but believable and loveable (at least some of them.. Fish.. not so much). Read more

More About the Author

In September of 2003 my wife, Mary, and I moved aboard our 36-foot Sailboat, Rough Draft. It was our intention to take the boat south from Minnesota to warmer climates where I would write a novel.

We sailed the boat through the inland river system from Minnesota to Mobile, Alabama where we lived for two years. We also spent three months living in Key West. Currently, the boat is docked in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. In 2011 we will take the boat to the Caribbean where we plan to drift until it is no longer fun.

In the time we've lived on the boat I have completed three mystery novels. It was my intention to find an agent and a publisher. After careful consideration I have decided to publish these books as e-books. The Storm Killer, is a historical thriller and Key Lime Blues, a mystery set in current day Key West, are both available for Kindle.
