The God Bullies hailed from Kalamazoo, (yes the place really exists) Michigan. They were a powerhouse of hipswinging, pelvic grinding Noise Rock. Their influences included The Stooges, The Cramps and of coarse Satan. The content of their lyrics were usually dark and were a reflection of the sick society that we live in. Nothing is sacred to Mike Hard, their vocalist/songwriter. This Album opens with the satyrical 'Let's Go to Hell' a clever dittie about pop icons and hypocritical evangelists. High points of the album are 'Like it Like that' giving reference to S&M and 'Do it Again' a raw sex song. 'Shallow Grave' pays homage to necrophelia and 'Abigail' pays homage to Abigail Folgers who was slayed by the Manson Family. This isn't something to play at Sunday School, but then again if you did - people might actually learn something about the world in which they live. Don't be affraid of the darkness of the lyrics...this stuff really rocks. Powerful guitar laden riffs with pounding percussion weave some memorable hooks that you'll want to listen to over and over. If you like Punk and Garage Rock this is a must have. If you like this check out Thrall - Mike's latest project.

try track 8 to start !!!
But if I have to pick only one album from the God Bullies, 'Kill the King' would be it. (the 'God Bullies' turned into 'Thrall' turned into 'They Never Sleep' too) |
