5.0 out of 5 stars Top quality book in every way
The reasons I love this book are:
- very well explained techniques
- author is a perfectionist and teaches tips to make a well constructed and well finished project
- the author clearly had her hands in every phase of the creation of this book and you feel her personality in it everywhere
- worsted weight (much warmer and easier to work with) yarns...

I bought this book because I was attracted to the colours. The patterns were a little different and I was very excited. However, when I made my first article I found mistakes in the pattern. 5.0 out of 5 stars Top quality book in every way, November 26, 2008
This review is from: Doggie Knits: Sweaters & Accessories for Your Best Friend (Paperback)
The reasons I love this book are:
- very well explained techniques
- author is a perfectionist and teaches tips to make a well constructed and well finished project
- the author clearly had her hands in every phase of the creation of this book and you feel her personality in it everywhere
- worsted weight (much warmer and easier to work with) yarns are used in the project
- there are truly beautiful designs for every level of knitter
- variety in the projects - I am just finishing the sweet little hat and scarf plus there is a bed pouch, collar cover, bandana
- tips on dyeing your own wool using powdered drink mixes adds a nice creative touch

As long as you don't mind learning to use circular needles in a way you may never have tried - and can use pictorial diagrams (I'm still getting my head around the techniques) - you'll be ready to create some beautiful warm sweaters for all your furry kids.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not happy, May 23, 2009
This review is from: Doggie Knits: Sweaters & Accessories for Your Best Friend (Paperback)
I bought this book because I was attracted to the colours. The patterns were a little different and I was very excited. However, when I made my first article I found mistakes in the pattern. Stitches didn't add up to the correct number. Then, after adjusting that, the article did not turn out the size it was supposed to. It was way too small. This is despite having done a tension gauge, that was correct. Very disappointing. I gave the book to someone else and she tried the beanie. Again it turned out so much tinier than it should have.

I feel very disappointed because the colours and patterns look lovely. This is the 2nd dog pattern book I have purchased where the patterns have mistakes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great New Patterns, July 18, 2008
This review is from: Doggie Knits: Sweaters & Accessories for Your Best Friend (Paperback)
I just got this book and it's wonderful. There are some great new techniques and some really cute new designs. The hat with holes for the ears and an attached scarf to wrap around is so adorable. I can't wait to knit that one. There is also a new snuggle bed pattern that I'm sure my cat will love. If you like pet knits, this one is worth the money for sure.

This book is terrific. The patterns are clear and easy to follow, the book is bright and the dogs pictured are adorable! It has come out just in time for me to finish projects for the holiday gift season. Can't wait to see my friends and family putting these cute outfits on their dogs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best-written doggie-pattenbook yet!, December 3, 2008

This review is from: Doggie Knits: Sweaters & Accessories for Your Best Friend (Paperback)
I've been knitting for 7 years, and most of that time I've knit dog sweaters. This book not only has darling photos of cute dogs modeling the patterns, it's extremely well-written. I like that Corinne gives yardage for each pattern, not just a particular yarn. The section on combining colors has been liberating for me; you never could have convinced me that purple and green look good together when linked with orange, but it resulted in a stunning little sweater.

I'll continue to use this book again and again. My dog thanks you, Corinne!

I am giving this three stars because I bought it with my Yorkies in mind but some of these patterns don't work well for them. If you have a Dachshund, a pug, long bodied/ necked dog this book will be great for you. There are also patterns for Chihuahuas. The fact that I have had to take the time and alter the patterns so they would work for my dogs is another reason for the lower rating. Most patterns I've purchased will fit without any alterations, so it's not that my dogs are odd sized.

Here are the patterns in the book with the sizing measurements:
1) The Little Penny Sweater: Neck size 8-10" (9-12"); Chest 14-16"(18-20") Finished project shown modeled on a Dachshund and a Schnauzer.
2) Big Penny Sweater: Neck 12-16"(18-22"); Chest 17-28"(22-32"); Length 26"(29") Shown on an English Shepherd.
3) Piccolo Sweater: This is a good universal sweater for most sizes/ shapes. Neck 9 (10,12,14,16,18"); Chest 12 (14,16,18,20,22"); Length 12 (14,16,18,20,22") This pattern is one of the reasons I bought the book. This book has detailed instructions with color photos on how to do leg bands/ cuffs with DPNS. There are also variations of the sweater to give it different bands in the collar and body variations.
4) Agnes Sweater: Chest 12(14, 16"); Length 12 (14,16") This is the sweater for the Chihuahua and the one pictured on the front cover.
5)Hoodie Sweater: Neck 12 (14,16,18,21"); Chest 16 (19,20,24,26"); Length w/o hood 12 (14,16,18,20")
6) Shadow Sweater: Neck 9 (11,13,15"); Chest 12 (14,16,18"); Length 12 (14,16,18") Black with 5 contrasting colors to create a holographic look when viewed from different angles.
7) Lemon Sweater: This is the pug sweater - Neck 10 (14,16"); Chest 16 (20,24"); Length 11 (13, 15")
8) Astro Sweater: Another Chihuahua sized project- Neck 7.5 (8.5, 9.5"); Chest 9.5 (10.75, 12.5"); Length 6 (7,8")
9) Olly Sweater: For the Dachshund body type. Neck 10 (12, 14"); Chest 16 (18, 20"); Length 14 (16,18")
10) Frieda Snood: A head covering for dogs
11) Cocoa Hat: Hat with pom pom and attached scarf.
12) Libby Kerchief: Attaches to collar in sizes small, medium, and large.
13) Collar Cozy: Tube that slides over the collar to add decoration.
14) Wally Bed: Sort of like a sleeping bag for dogs. 30 by 18" when finished/felted
15) Blanket
16) Knitted Chicken Drum Dog toy
17) Yoda Sweater: Created by knitting individual diamonds and stitching them together. Neck 9 (11,12,13,14,15"); Chest 14 (15,19, 20,22,25"); Length 10 (12, 15, 17, 19, 22")

Hopefully this will help figure out if these projects will fit your pet before you buy the book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for beginners, July 15, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Doggie Knits: Sweaters & Accessories for Your Best Friend (Paperback)
The photos and designs in this book are really lovely. I consider myself an experienced knitter and have been able to work through the patterns after a full review of the pattern. This is not for beginners - the instructions are not logical and it is easy to get lost. I was really disappointed with this book.

This is a good book. Or though some of the pattern are not that easy to follow. This book would be better for the more advanced knitter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Doggie knits, March 5, 2010

Great patterns that have a range of knitter levels. I found a few that I can do as I usually only knit flat things! I am pleased to make something with a shape, the directions are clear for me and the results are very fun and cute!

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed, August 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Doggie Knits: Sweaters & Accessories for Your Best Friend (Paperback)
I bought this because I really want to make my dogs sweaters and patterns are hard to find. I was excited once I saw all the colorful sweaters and couldn't wait to get started. By the time I got to row 7 there had already been 3 errors. I contacted Sterling Publishing who got the writer to email me. She acted completely lost and after telling her about the third error I just came out and asked if she would correct all the errors in that one pattern because it was so confusing going back and forth. I never heard from her again. If you are not an experienced knitter that knows how to correct these errors you will be wasting your money on this book.
