About the Artist

Cathy’s professional career began in Montreal where, influenced by an active folk music community, she learned folk and old-time music on guitar and five-string banjo. The banjo has become one of her trademarks, along with her yodeling (and her ability to get an entire audience yodeling with her). She has recorded ten albums of her own, produced over ten others and played every major folk festival on the continent from Winnipeg to Winfield. In 1979, she moved to Takoma Park, MD where she has been a central figure in folk, old-time and bluegrass music.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great CD July 21, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I'm a Stephen Foster fan and I purchased this CD after listening to Cathy Fink's version of "My Old Kentucky Home" on You Tube. The rest of this CD lives up to her wonderful version of that song. Ms. Fink is great songwriter and lyricist who works in a wide range of styles. Her guitar and banjo playing are impeccable. She possesses a beautiful voice. She chose excellent backing musicians for this album. I feel really lucky for having stumbled on this pretty much by accident and can't wait to explore more of her work. (BTW, you HAVE to listen to "No Tell Hotel" - a truly amazing song.)

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite albums September 2, 2000
Format:Audio CD
The LP version of this album, Doggone My Time, has been one of my perennial favorites. From the delicate fingerstyle "My Old Kentucky Home" to the western swing "That's Where the West Begins", I always find lots to like here. I'm going to get the CD just to get the bonus tracks- only 12 were on the LP.
If you like bluegrass of any ilk, Asleep at the Wheel, great guitar and banjo work, or Prairie Home Companion you will like this album.
