4.0 out of 5 stars MALICE IS BEHIND US NOW April 22, 2011
Format:Audio CD
Snoop Dogg brings another fast album to the counters, or download websites actually. "Doggumentary" seems to find Snoop closer to his roots on this joy ride as synthesized funk is welcomed back along with more returning guest stars from a usual Snoop line up. One thing a Snoop Dogg session always trade marks is the iconic sound of smooth production mixed in with good flow. More of that has returned here and it certainly has stepped a pace away from his previous effort "Malice In Wonderland."
"Toys N Da Hood" has Bootsy Collins appropriately opening the album with a hard funky vibe and could closely be relating to the Eastsidaz sound- good ol days!
"The Way Life Use To Be" is pure Snoop mixing up old samples with heavy beats and done successfully and with a solo effort!
Snoop moves on to more old school vibes with "My Own Way". A pleasing song here as the track almost seems like a touch of Chronic days full of "Little Ghetto Boy."
"Wonder What It Do"... an album highlight of good vibes and nice choruses. Snoop was always great at providing cavi, upbeat tracks and this one doesn't fall short.
Onward is the bass heavy "Platinum" with R. Kelly making a cameo appearance and surprisingly adds good rap flows!
"We Rest In Cali" remains another grand slam while Eastsida Goldie Loc lends a hand over a heated funky beat and samples of Zapp echoing in the background.

Plenty other good tracks on this turn around sound from Snoop Dogg and it gives us signs that even though his pal Nate Dogg is no longer with us, the g-funk sound is still alive and shows promise of more for the next few sessions. It was a little sad to hear no Nate on this album and disappointing that other Snoop arsenal were missing- Kurupt, Warren G, Bad Azz, Soopafly ect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good!! April 23, 2011
By wtrey
Format:Audio CD
This album is everything! I thought I would be disappointed when I heard "Wet", as well. But this is so classic. The production is on point and of course Snoop is true to self lyric wise. Please give it a chance before writing it off based on his first single!

5.0 out of 5 stars Westcoastin' July 24, 2011
Format:Audio CD
I love this album! The only garbage tracks are 5,8,9,14,and 16;every other tracks is very satisfying. I bought the album from and I am going to buy the cd from amazon to show that westcoast support.Screw the music industry, keep it independent, screw Mtv and BET. If you guys love hi def music like me you will buy the cd and buy audiophile headphones and audiophile cd player, then bang this cd. Mp3s can not compare to cd quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very close to perfect...4.5 stars April 3, 2011
Format:Audio CD
I honestly thought this album was going to be Malice n Wonderland all over when I heard the first single "Wet" a couple months ago.I'll admit I was very wrong. To me this is Snoop's best album since Blue Carpet Treatment. The only reason I didn't give it the full 5 stars is because of "Wet" and "Superman"(which isn't too bad of a song except it dosen't fit in well on this album). This has a real old school West Coast,G-Funk vibe to it excluding those 2 songs.Anyways I would strongly reccommend any fan os Snoop's to buy this album. You won't be dissapointed.

Top 5:
It's D Only Thing
The Way Life Used to Be
Eyez Closed
Gangbang Rookie
Take U Home

I was not sure how good this cd was the first time I heard it, but it grew on me. It is a great production and one of the best of Snoop D. Get it, you will not regret it.
