Why would a happily married, God-fearing, father who appears to have it all: a well paying job, nice home, and two cars, cheat? DOGISM by Mark Anthony, gives us some insight on an affliction quite a few men have, which is the need to be unfaithful in their relationships.

Why would a happily married, God-fearing, father who appears to have it all: a well paying job, nice home, and two cars, cheat? DOGISM by Mark Anthony, gives us some insight on an affliction quite a few men have, which is the need to be unfaithful in their relationships.

Lance and Nicole Thomas have been married for five years. They have a four year old son named LL and are both active in their church. From the outside looking in they appear to have it all, but all that glitters isn't gold and Lance is living a double life.

Lance and his mistress Scarlet have been together for the duration of his marriage. Scarlet, a stripper, has a serious obsession for Lance, and will not let him go by any means. No matter how hard Lance tries not to allow his eyes to wander, he ends up doing so anyway. In the process, he meets a new possible mistress and sets his sights on making her his woman.

Lance ends up juggling his job, wife, son, God and his mistress and soon realizes it may be more stress that it's worth. Will Lance make the right decision and end any and all affairs? Or will he succumb to every pretty woman who crosses his path? Will Nicole find out the truth about her husband? Or will she think he is the faithful husband he portrays.

If you want some insight on why men cheat, then pick up this book. Granted it is a work of fiction, but there are several truths which allow you to get into a cheating man's heart and mind, and see why they do what they do.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sexual Demons, October 24, 2004

LOCKSIE "ARC Book Club Inc" (Mt. Vernon, N.Y./Coram, N.Y.) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Dogism (Paperback)
This book started off a little slow. The main character Lance thinks he's "the man" all he can see are womens body measurments, Turns out this book has an enlighten aspect.
The story takes place in Queens, N.Y. where Lance Thomas is married with a son. He portrays the loving church going husband and father. But behind his handsome exterior there are inner demons present. Lance has more than an eye for the ladies...he has "DOGISM". He can't help himself, every good looking girl with a slamming body that he meets he has to have.
This leads to infidelity, lies and drama! His poor wife Nicole is clueless, she doesnt even know this man she has been married to for five years! Read this book and go inside the mind of an adulterer, who wants to accept god into his life but is strggling with his sexual demons. Lots of spiritual messages sprinkled thoughout this novel. A must read for women and men.

4.0 out of 5 stars The "Scarlett" Letter, May 21, 2005
By
MyMelody (Philadelphia, Pa.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dogism (Paperback)
This book was a definite step up from Mark's debut novel Paper Chasers(which I will admit only having read 6 pages because I just couldn't get into it) I thought his view on women was accurate, and pretty funny considering those are the types of women you see in the average video on a daily basis. The situation, and the way the story was told made me wonder of Mark was telling his own story. Although I could have done without all the references to the bible, it showed that although the main character was a dog, he did have some morals and knew what he was doing was unacceptable. Scarlett was that CHICK, and when she slashed his tires I just about died. Life lessons are a b*tch, and you would think he would have learned from that. Overall, the book was pretty good, and I would like to know what happened after the baby, and all the drama with Scarlett because she doesn't seem like the type to just walk away.

4.0 out of 5 stars Off the hook, February 22, 2005
This review is from: Dogism (Paperback)
I found Dogism quite intriguing. Once I got past the part about the size of the females, I couldn't put the book down because I wanted to find out so bad what is going to happen to Lance. This non-stop page turner had me up in the night. The only disappoint to the book was the end, because it left me wanting more. So I guess I have to wait for the sequel to find out what's going ot happen to him.

3.0 out of 5 stars So-So, July 7, 2005
This review is from: Dogism (Paperback)
I gave this book 3 stars. The cover made the book look interesting. When I started reading I felt it was going kinda slow and then it picked up and then slowed down.Lance is married to Nicole but he cheats on her.He is a christian and preaches a bit much throughout the book. Its like this book allows you to get inside a man's head which was interesting but at the same time the book got on my nerves.Lance was a straight up dog who wanted his cake and eat it too type of person.Im really not sure I'd recommend this book but if its on your to-read-list by all means go ahead and read it.I felt like it was missing something.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get Your Copy NOW!!! ANOTHER Bestseller!!, May 20, 2004
This review is from: Dogism (Paperback)
I enjoyed the book from cover to cover! I was pleased that someone took the courage to write about this controversial topic, one that is repeatedly destroying relationships in people's lives today. The characters were bondafide and realistic. Mr. Anthony writes with a sophistication that he actually zones you into the nature of "each" character. The persecution and torment that Lance, the main character, endures through male ego, quilt, fear and shame is written so vividly it makes you speak out loud to the characters. Lance's selfish lust is detrimental to everyone involved in his life (wife, son, friends, etc). The author left no stone unturned in the describing the nature and damage that a relationship of infidelity causes. Mr. Anthony has mastered in his book the reality of a man's lustful affliction; how he's actually out of control concerning his desire for sex and how his Christian wife submitted to humiliation and forgave him. I don't want to tell the story; but buy the book! You will not have read anything like it before. Despite this tormenting problem of the main character, the author has written humor that is bound to make you laugh out loud also. This book is without question destined to help both men & women in relationships. It's a book of deliverance for those who are desparately hurting in this area. It definitely has a good and powerful messege. It's excellently written with Christian morals and ethics that are sure both surprise and please the reader. It's realistic. This book is an exceptional choice for book clubs! I applaud Mr. Anthony for the backbone to expose and confront this topic. It was so needed. The ending of the book is conclusive in itself, or the author can continue with a part II. I am eager to read the next work of Mr. Anthony entitled "LADIES NIGHT". Bring it on, Mr. Anthony; congratulations on a job well done!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book 2 read, February 11, 2010
This review is from: Dogism (Paperback)
I had never read anything by this author before but I can say that after reading this book I will continue to support his work. This book was a page turner from beginning to end. You really felt for the characters involved. The topic was on point because there are many people that are really in this situation both male and female. A wedding ring actually can get you more play leaving it on than taking it off. Ladies as well as men would benefit from reading this book. I think I am actually going to read it again because I read it so fast that I'm scared I may have missed something. I think his story really relates to how selfish someone can be in a relationship. Ladies please take note to alot of what he says because he gives alot a good warning signs of infidelity. I been on both ends, I've been cheated on and I've cheated there are always signs!

Now I will say this Lance got off too damn easy!

Mr. Anthony if you read any of this posts all I have to say is 'You go Boy!!!'
