This is an excellent book to teach the ABC's. Especially for a second language learner. The illustrations are nice!

I bought this book for my granddaughter when she was in bed with swine flu. She is five and very interested in learning to read. Her mother reported back that she loved it, reading it again and again. I am rating it only four stars because I did not see it myself.

The author makes a nice attempt but falls short. With children I believe it is good to teach them by building off the base of material rather than try to teach them multiple items at once. For example The author could not think of anything that was simple that started with the letter P so they used Pond. Now when you show that to your child the first thing they think is water (which is used for the letter ) as a result you then have to teach them pond and water. It isn't a bad thing to deal them two things which they need to learn eventually, but like I said it is easier to start off a base and work from there.

By the end of the book the author could not think of any useful word that began with V so it used Vicky and then the same thing for X used eXtremely. I think that was just laziness on the author.

Finally I do not know what is up with the prices on here to make anyone think it would be worth $100? If you can get it for less than $5 fine, but it is not on the "must have" list of books.

These books are wonderful for little ones. We found these in the library, and only for sale at Amazon. Very colorful and well illustrated. A must have!
