Great book!!!!,

This review is from: All Dogs Have ADHD (Hardcover)
I am a special education teacher of eighth grade students who have learning disabilities and other health impairments, such as ADHD. I too have ADHD as well as two of my children. This book brought a great sense of relief, as well as identity for my students. They, like myself, felt that the book describes ADHD in a way that is unlike others we have seen before. It is not written in a negative fashion. It is an encouragement to anyone who has ADHD. Instead of focusing on all of the negatives of ADHD the book finishes with saying that an individual who has ADHD has unlimited potential...which is what a lot of ADHDer's need to hear rather than how "annoying" we are. We were all placed on this Earth for a reason, maybe it is to teach each other patience, love, and compassion for ALL.

Great Gift with Real Meaning,

Honestly, I would have bought this book for the coffee-out-the-nose funny title and cover. However my cousin's son, David, has ADHD, and it proved to be a perfect Christmas gift. Yes, he opened it already. He has ADHD. Nonetheless I was fortunate enough to be there to see David and his Mom as they turned thought the pages for the very first time. I made a wise choice. While I will always approve of almost any book that exposes children to dogs, this is a book of hope and understanding. I'd recommend `All Dogs Have ADHD' not only for families living with ADHD or other learning disorders, but as a gift for teachers and as a donation for libraries. The cuteness is just a bonus!

I usually hate this kind of cutesy anthropomorphizing animal photograph books, but I couldn't help buying it when I realized how clever and thoughtful it was. I sent this book to my grandson. He is a Russian adoptee who has been at a residential treatment center. He has been diagnosed with multiple problems and has been on all sorts of heavy medications since he was five.
Despite much of his treatment (some of it quite harsh and misguided) he has remained a delightful, loving, spiritual child-- a true puppy dog of loyalty, passion and occasional guilt! This book is so so so appropriate for him! He LOVES it and showed it to all of the staff and teachers at the center. They loved it too. I think it is the best gift I ever gave him. The hope and affection that is the grounding of the book is the very best therapy he can have. Thanks for the insight and sensitivity of the author in putting this book together.

This book talks about ADHD traits, with dog pictures illustrating the text. I started out laughing-whoo boy, did that describe my kid!-and ending up almost crying, as it is spot on about the misunderstandings. My 11-yr-old loved it also. It's good for when a lift is needed.

I work with dyslexics - covering reading, math and ADHA. This book had just arived as I started work with a very ADHD 13 year old. I loaned it to his granddad and my client was reading it on his way home. Granddad said my client was sitting in the back saying, "Yep, uh hun, right," etc. It hits the nail on the head without being condemning or berating. It gives the reader something to think about or to re-think their view of ADHD. Every parent of a ADHD child should have this book to read again and again as a gentle, fun, insightful reminder.

My son was recently diagnosed with ADHD. When I was searching for books to read on the subject I came upon "all dogs have ADHD"
I read it right then and there. I was laughing and crying at the same time. My husband and I are going to send the book to Grandparents and aunts and uncles. We've already shared it with our son and his sisters. It is a wonderful, creative way to help people understand what our son is going through and that ADHD is not some big dark secret that needs to be hidden. This book literally illustrates how intelligent, sensitive and beautiful these children are and that with the support and understanding of those who love them they can reach any goal they set for themselves! Kudos Ms. Hoopmann!

i have combined ADHD, was diagnosed as an adult, but i know i've had it my whole life (trust me, parents and teachers would SO agree!!). My beautiful daughter also has ADHD, as well as some other behavioral disabilities. i have read this book to her, and she and i really loved how it so adorably explains some of the traits of the "ooh, shiny!" people like us. even as an adult, i could appreciate the thought to match the pictures to what the author was conveying. lovely, fun book.

When I read this book for the first time it really opened my eyes to the reality behind ADHD. It explains it in a fun understandable way. It brought a tear to my eye because it really opened my eyes to the way my daughter is feeling on a daily basis. This book is a great tool for children confused about why the feel and act the way they do. I would recommend this book to anyone with an ADHD child!

Great book to explain to kids, teens, teachers, and parents what it is like to live with ADHD. My own teen thinks the book is great and describes his ADHD perfectly. He has even shown it to friends who laugh and agree it is perfect.

I rated this book 4 stars instead of 5 stars ONLY because I think that the "All Cats Have Aspergers" is a bit better - but this book is outstanding to explain to kids (of all ages) what it must feel like to have ADHD. It treats the subject in a humorous way, but this author understands the problems that come with ADHD. Not all ADHD kids have exactly the same issues, not all of them will have everything this book shows, but they should find enough of themselves to understand themselves better... And that they're NOT the only ones struggling with these issues. Great job, wish I thought of this series myself! I've recommended both of these books to SPED teachers, they're great to leave out for kids to flip through.
