This book was great light reading. Working for 12 vets, I can relate to his adventures somewhat and they ran the gamut of emotions. It was well written and I'd recommend it to anyone who loves animals and loves reading about them. No Dogs in Heaven? How silly can anyone be to think they are not there!

A fun read!,

I always enjoy reading true stories about the profession. While James Herriott is best known for this genre, it's nice to see other doctors with a flair for writing also sharing their many interesting experiences. Dr. Sharp has written a neat book that pet owners and veterinarians are sure to enjoy. The stories are light-hearted and ones veterinarians everywhere can certainly relate to as they read. It's simply pure fun! Shawn Messonnier DVM Author of the award-winning The Natural Health Bible for Dogs & Cats, 8 Weeks to a Healthy Dog, The Allergy Solution for Dogs

Dr. Sharp is one lucky guy. I have no other explanantion for his obvious love of his job, love of people (even the difficult ones), and his ability to communicate these characteristics in an amusing and engaging way. I picked up this book expecting James Herriot warmth and was not disappointed. However, Dr. Sharp also displays an edge (hmmm) that keeps things from being too mushy. I can almost picture myself driving around in his work truck on the way to the next call eating the DQ dog off the bag.
This is a great read... straight through or in little chunks...by yourself or to your 5 year old. I'll be watching for more

A Real "Page Turner",
This review is from: No Dogs in Heaven? Scenes from the Life of a Country Veterinarian (Paperback)
In this very well-written and entertaining book of anecdotes, Dr. Sharp has not only provided an intimate glimpse at the details of life as a veterinarian but he has captured the heart and soul of life in a small American town. This is the perfect book for would-be vets, animal lovers, young adults, old adults, nephews, aunts, wives, brothers-in-law, etc., etc. Anyone just interested in a darn good story will enjoy No Dogs in Heaven? Scenes from the Life of a Country Veterinarian by Dr. Robert T. Sharp.

Rob Sharp has been our veterinarian ever since we moved to Hillsboro eight years ago and I bought 8 copies of No Dogs In Heaven? without having read it first,on faith that his stories would not disappoint. Bless his heart, he signed all eight of them for me, writing a personal message in each. (I won't tell you what he wrote in my copy!) I can't tell you when I have enjoyed a book more than this one, and the recipients of the other books have echoed my feelings exactly. I laughed and cried and hated to see the book end. When I asked about a sequel, he replied, "Well, it took me 25 years to write this one...." I have to live long enough for that!!
