4.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Adventure!, May 18, 2006
By
This review is from: Dogs of War (Paperback)
What a fantastic adventure! From the first page to the last, this book is a sitting-on-the-edge-of-your-seat read. Set in WW11, the war between good and evil is personified by the battles between the American and the Nazi solders. But not all is so predictable as the traditional view that the Americans are good, the Germans bad.

Ruthenbeck's German soldiers, through Hitler's medical experimentation program, have become werewolves. Their job is to keep secure a very special treasure that Hitler has acquired. The American soldier's mission is to steal the treasure. The Americans, all flawed men, believe that the treasure will bring them power, wealth and fame and are willing to do anything to acquire the treasure for themselves.

As the story progresses, we come to understand that the battle is not only between the warring sides in this battle but within the characters themselves. Each is very carefully delineated and acts within his character, facing evil within himself, deciding whether to embrace or reject it.

There is coarse language, violence and graphic detail in Dogs of War that might put off the squeamish.

Armchair Interviews says: The attention to historic detail, the incredible action-packed storyline and the character development make this a terrific read.
