I have absolutely nothing to complain about with this collar. I love the non-stim vibration feature, and I have never had problems with the range or quality. It holds a charge well and has held water tight.

2.0 out of 5 stars Battery Problems
I bought this collar not even a month ago and have had nothing but problems with the battery. It will not hold a charge. I have only been able to use this collar twice so far and have had to charge it after every use. It usually only last 30 minutes at the most before the green light goes yellow and then very quickly turns to red. Now the unit will not charge at all...

I've now had 2 innotec and 1 pet safe collar, and all three of them are garbage sitting in a drawer because they stopped working. I never have a problem with my dogtra - it came highly recommended to me by a field lab trainer I used to work for and I'm glad I got it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dogtra 200 NCP, February 4, 2009
200 NCP Gold Training Collar

This training collar is one that work perfect, with 1/2 mile range it works great for my Treeing Walker Coonhound, The great thing about this collar is the vibrate/Pager option, that is what I use all the time, She knows that when her collar vibrates that means to come to me.

I would not get the 200NCP here because I saw the price was $291.60, thats just outrageous, you can get it direct from Dogtra for $200.

There is also a multi contact pad the was made for the Dogtra invisible fence, it work/fits perfect on this collar as well, the collar strap is very easy to adjust and any standard pair of scissors will cut the extra off.

Lastly, the batteries are very easy to replace in both the remote and the collar. If you look on ebay you might find a great deal like I did, got mine for $40 shipped because the collar batteries was bad. It only takes a number one and a number 2 Philip screwdrivers to replace both batteries and Dogtra does not make you have to special order replacements either, Radio shack has them online as well as many other sites, just search google to find them.

5.0 out of 5 stars great product when used properly, May 26, 2007

HB (California) - See all my reviews
This product is very easy to use and the transmitter fits extremely well in the hand when walking the dog. If your dog is in the training stage, this is a must have product. The "nick" feature is the most important feature and doesn't harm the dogs at all. I set the variable shock strength to about 50% so the nick is just enough for my dogs to feel it through their fur.

What to expect: At the beginning of use, the dog's reaction to the nick is of complete surprise and a short yelp. Once the dog realizes the nick is associated to bad behavior, they become extremely manageble. After a short period of use, I find myself rarely using the Dogtra product. The key is to be consistent when using this product. If my golden retreiver is getting unruly, he instantly changes his behavior for the better once I put the Dogtra collar on him and a nick isn't necessary.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Effective, June 29, 2010

This review is from: Dogtra® 300M Gold Dog Training Collar 1 dog (Misc.)
I was very pleased with the quality of this product. It seems to be very well made and sturdy. I have a one year old female Lhasa Apso that loves to bark at anything that moves. I tried a anti bark collar first but my dog seemed to adjust to the shock and would continue to bark.

This unit has three different training buttons and the ability to increase the shock if needed. I find that the non-shock vibrating button usually does the trick. Only on occasion have I had to use the shock button and only at a setting of 20.

I find the rechargable unit and remote to be really great and sure saves on buying disposable batteries. Both units hold a charge for several days before recharging. Of course the collar is not on my dog at night or much of the time when she is in the house.

I highly recommend this unit for effective training.

I bought this collar not even a month ago and have had nothing but problems with the battery. It will not hold a charge. I have only been able to use this collar twice so far and have had to charge it after every use. It usually only last 30 minutes at the most before the green light goes yellow and then very quickly turns to red. Now the unit will not charge at all. Three days of being pulled into the wall outlet and still a red light... Have contacted the manufacturer and received no reply to date. Contacted the company I purchased the unit from and was told to deal with the manufacturer. Considering how expensive this collar was, I would expect better service and that the collar actually worked...

2.0 out of 5 stars Stopped working after 14 months of use., October 12, 2011
This review is from: Dogtra® 300M Gold Dog Training Collar 1 dog (Misc.)
Purchased this Dogtra collar for advance training with our dog on the instructions of our dog trainer. It worked fine for about 12 months, then it started to become unreliable. It's been 14 months and the collar unit shuts off when any of the buttons on the remote are pushed. I don't know what the normal expected life of these collars are, but I expected far more use for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reviews are true; this is an awesome training device, August 1, 2011

This review is from: Dogtra® 300M Gold Dog Training Collar 1 dog (Misc.)
I read the reviews prior to purchase and needless to say, I am extremely glad that I purchased this model vice the ever-available "Petsmart" models. Here's why: 1)Very effective, I only had to zap my dog once, maybe twice for him to stop certain behaviors (such as barking aggressively at my neighbors dog across the fence). Now, just having the collar on him is all it takes to manipulate these behaviors. 2) Durable construction; this thing is built for "working dogs" unlike my lazy "pit-jindo-whatever else" mix of a dog. You can tell that it is made to last. 3)NICAD batteries; its re-chargeable, and after almost daily use (5 mins a day or less/for 4 months) i have yet to re-charge it. Again though, i haven't had to zap him for a long time. 4)Its great to use indoors as well; when i have family coming over he used to bark and get very excited and jump on our visitors; especially the young kids. Not anymore; its really impressive how it only took one zap to modify this (along with verbal instruction). My recommendations: Use it sparingly; decide first on the worst behaviors that you want to modify using this device, then make a plan on how you are going to utilize it. As far as power adjustments; adjust power incrementally, starting as low as you can, then slowly increase until it works (then keep that setting for subsequent training if needed). My dog responds at the "50" setting. Ensure you give a verbal warning prior to hitting the button, and give that verbal only ONCE. I found that the "continuous" button vice the "nick" button is more effective. Also, i put a thin piece of masking tape over the collar hole area so that i can easily identify the proper hole in which to fit his collar on properly. Proper fit is really important and its addressed well in the instructions. Lastly, there are some good videos out on YOU TUBE on using this type of behavior modification; highly recommended. Oh yea, for what its worth, for those people who think that this is a cruel way of behavior modification, i would tell them that after personally rescuing several dogs in my life, this is a life-saver when it comes to modifying dogs that other techniques simply don't work. I have seen the results with my own eyes and it works on dogs that other people have "thrown away" because of aggressive/unwanted behaviors. When viewed (and more importantly used) in this context, trust me, this behavior modification is NOT CRUEL.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome product, May 29, 2011
This review is from: Dogtra® 300M Gold Dog Training Collar 1 dog (Misc.)
I originally purchased a vibration collar with 2 shock settings. The low setting was much higher than I would ever want to use on my dog, so I sent it back and got this collar.

It does have vibrate which doesn't work to train my dog, but the shock settings are awesome! The settings go from 0-100. I find that between 20 and 30 work just fine. At 20, I can barely feel the shock on my finger. ALWAYS TRY IT ON YOURSELF FIRST by putting one finger across both points.

It is important to have the collar tight enough around the neck or it is inconsistent. It took me about a week to figure that out. Once I got the collar just right, it works perfectly every time.

I am extremely pleased with this collar and grateful that is saves me a lot of grief trying to train my dog. It is also waterproof. A big thanks to Dogtra!

This review is from: Dogtra® 300M Gold Dog Training Collar 1 dog (Misc.)
Absolutely love this product. I have an 86lb German Shepherd who lives with me on an avocado ranch and runs with me on the quad everyday. He was getting into the habit of attacking my tires and was almost run over. He was also chasing rabbits through barbed wire into other rancher's property. Once I got this product it only took a couple of nicks for him to get the idea that this behavior was no longer tolerated. He's been fantastic since then. I have had little to no trouble with him and half the time I dont even need to put his collar on anymore.

The rechargeable batteries and intense shock are what set this collar apart from everything else on the market. I've had 2 different collars in the past and they were no where near powerful enough to deter him from doing what he wanted to do. I also burned through 3v batteries faster then I was buying them. Great Product, I highly recommend it.
