Book Description

July 30, 2011

"Passionate, insightful, and downright comical. Cyrus never ceases to keep you thoroughly entertained. This book is no exception." - Greg Long, Champion of The Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational and the Maverick's Surf Contest.

"I was really stoked to see Cyrus put his interviews to print. Never a dull moment. Rock on." - Jeff Clark, Maverick's pioneer and star of Riding Giants.

"Action sports extremists are a passionate and dedicated lot, and Cyrus Saatsaz brings the same intense commitment and pure stoke to his journalism. This is radical storytelling. Cyrus gets the insider's perspective, because at his core, he's part of the band." - Grant Washburn, legendary Maverick's surfer and film producer.

"I'll never forget an interview I did with Cyrus a few years back, so much fun and so easy to talk to. Thanks for the good times buddy!" - Grant "Twiggy" Baker, 2006 Maverick's Surf Contest Champion.

"The best interview I have ever done." - Johnny Knoxville, actor and star of Jackass.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top read. Highly recommend. August 12, 2011
Format:Paperback
One of the first interviews I came across whilst flipping through the book was Marisa Millers (if you don't know her she is one of the Victoria's Secret angels/models, and a lifelong surfer). One of my first thoughts before reading the interview was that it was going to be weird, indulgent (on her end), and boring. To my surprise, it was totally interesting and entertaining, and as I began to flip further through the book, I discovered the consistency of Cyrus's questions and hilarity to be enthralling. It is a rare feast, and it suitable for all rooms of the house (bathrooms and bedrooms alike). SO many celebs and pros, it never gets boring. Top read. Highly Recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Informative, Entertaining, Insightful October 12, 2011
Format:Paperback
Saatsaz has an extraordinary ability to bring the reader alongside with him on exciting adventures & engrossing, fast moving interviews with the world's most popular & outstanding athletes. He captures your imagination by his vivid, lively writing style & uncanny knack for striking at the very heart of what makes life real. It's not surprising that sports personalities are eager to sit down & open up their lives, & this makes for compelling reading. A list of remarkable sports personalities that Saatsaz sits down with include surfing stars Kelly Slater (10 time World Surfing Champion), Jeff Clark (Mavericks legend, surfed Mavericks alone for 15 years), Greg Noll, Laird Hamilton, Rod Machado; film star Edward Norton (Primal Fear & Fight Club), snowboard Olympic gold medal champion, Shaun White, Tony Hawk (the greatest skateboarder ever), super-model & surfer Marisa Miller, & snowboarding Olympic gold medalist, Hannah Teter. One of my favorite exchanges goes like this: Cyrus: I have a question about the whole "Flying Tomato" nickname. Do you like that? Shaun White: Not so much. You know the muppets? That character Animal? I've been getting that one. I tour with Red Bull, & they took me up on a fighter jet. It was doing flips & stuff. Normally people black out. I talked to Ryan Sheckler, & he's like, "Man, at five G's I just passed out!" We pulled about six G's, & I'm just laughing. The pilot said, "You're an animal! You're crazy!" (Laughing) Everyone gets a nickname, & I'm Animal." In his final paragraph, Saataz writes: "I sincerely hope this book was informative, entertaining, insightful, funny & provided a glimpse of introspect." Rest assured, Cyrus, you most certainly have!
