Without a doubt the best version,
By Brittany Cable "Breeze" (CT United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dogz 3 (CD-ROM)
There is no doubt in my mind that this is the best version ever.I will start with the breedz. There are ten breedz: Great Dane, Dalmatian, Mutt, Scottie, Poodle, Sheepdog, Labrador, Chihuahua, Bulldog, and Dachshund. Each breed has its own looks and personalities. Chihuahuas, for example, are small and can't be quiet, while Sheepdogs are big, fluffy, and could eat ten bowls of food if you let them. It is rather hard not to fall in love with one particular breed. Once you have your puppy, you go to the Family Room, not a Playpen! From the Family Room you can go to the Kitchen, Backyard, Beach, Playpen, Desktop, Clothes Closet, or Toy Closet. Each scene is unique in its own way. For example, the Beach has waves, and you can pick up toys at the Toy Closet. Some scenes even come with their own toys. When your dogz get older, they may fall in love and breed. These new puppies can have mutations. I had a bulldog be born with green eyes! There are many color mutations for eyes and fur, and you never know what may happen when you breed different breedz! The possibilities seem almost endless. There is one annoying factor, however. The Carrying Case where you hold toys has been shrunk, and I mean SHRUNK. You can only hold about nine items, which can get a little annoying. Despite this, Dogz 3 is definitely the best version of Petz!

ONLY 95/98 Compatible! NOT XP/2000,

This is a wonderful game, however everyone should know that they do not advertise that this is compatible with ANY other version of Windows other than 95 & 98. They do not claim that it will and they are unsure that they will update it. Also, this was written/supported by UBI Soft, but the current Petz are owned/supported by Broderbund, I believe.

BEST Petz game - it IS Vista/XP/2k compatible!,
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Dogz 3 (CD-ROM)
Someone mentioned before that it won't work with XP or 2000, but it will with the official Petz 4 patch. Even though it's not the same game, they're very similar and the Petz 4 patch WILL make P3 work on XP and 2k. I'm not totally sure on Vista, but I think I have had friends use at least one of the petz games (Don't remember if it was 3, 4, or 5) on it, although there were some issues with Vista hiding folders, etc. About the patch, though. It was previously available on the official Ubisoft Petz website, but with the launch of the new "Petz" games (not at ALL like this, by the way! This is a much better, awesome game with better programming - especially for when it was made), but can be easily found with a google search for "petz 4 patch" where you will also find lots of player-made additions to the game which include realistic dog breeds, adoptable pets, and files that have been changed to make new toys and clothes.
This game is incredible. This and Petz 4 are the best versions of the game, because anything before doesn't have enough features, and Petz 5 has a lot more bugs and is just very different, although it is similar in how you play. I wouldn't recommend Petz 5, but I highly recommend this or Petz 4, whichever is cheaper because there's not a whole lot of difference!
