Product Description

From Children's Software Revue® -- "Subscribe Now!"

If your kids couldn't get enough of Tamagotchis and Gigapets, they are bound to enjoy the Game Boy Color version of Dogz. After choosing a pet from three dog breeds, you see your dog scamper across the display, inviting you to play. As in the PC version, you must feed, pet, groom and even dress your critter, or it may become disgruntled and run away. Good caregiving abilities are rewarded with access to additional, rare dog breeds.

As expected, the graphics, design and options aren't nearly as sophisticated as that of the Windows version. In typical Game Boy fashion, the screen is dark and the controls somewhat inaccurate. Overall, however, kids will enjoy carrying around their Dogz, and the program offers a nice alternative to other Game Boy games.

Product Description

Cartridge ONLY Are you looking to adopt a pet but lack the time or space to take care of a real one? Then you may find DOGZ to be of interest. Part of the small but popular virtual pet genre, DOGZ lets you adopt a dog from one of three breeds: Chihuahua, Scottie, or mutt. You can play with the pet first to decide if it's right for you. Once you've adopted the little gal or fella, it's up to you to take care of it: feed it, groom it, and play with it regularly if you want it to grow up to be a well-adjusted adult. If you mistreat your dog, though, your little pet will take off! Eventually, new breeds of dogs and new special toys will become available for you, depending on how well you do. You can even trade toys and breeds of dogs with your friends via the infrared link.

5.0 out of 5 stars Remember Dogz 1.0?, December 31, 1999
By A Customer

Remember Dogz 1.0 for the computer? (Yes, it was just called "Dogz" at the time, but there's been so many of them since then!) Dogz GBC is VERY similar! It's a lot of fun, and you get to adopt MANY different kinds of Dogz eventually. I just got my copy yesterday (from here, of course!), and I first adopted a Scottie (Chip), who I renamed Benny. He was soooooo cute, but then he grew up after about 3 or 4 hours and went to the hall of fame. Fortunately, I found out that you can re-adopt petz after they've been in the hall of fame! :-) Since I took such good care of Benny, when I went back to the adoption center, I found a new breed waiting for me! A pink mutt named Mitzy! All in all, the program is very fun with lots of surprises, but I was more than somewhat dissapointed when I found out that you don't get 3 special toys, only 1. Other than that, though, it's really great! :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Go Dogz Go, January 1, 2000

Dogz is a very fun game. It is interactive and enjoyable. This this game is great for kids of all ages. It teaches new levels of creativity. If you take good care of your dogz you can get new breeds and colors of dogz. When you dogz get old the are entered into to a Hall of Fame. They're name is green if you took great care of it. yellow if you take okay care of it and red if you bad care of it. If you like cats betterthan dogs than buy the game catz(also on amazon). You can buy the computer game Catz and Dogz. You can even breed the ones on the computer!

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun for a while..., January 12, 2001
This review is from: Dogz (Game Cartridge)
Dogz for GBC is a good game for all ages. It is a lot of fun for a little while, but if you like action, it's not for you. You will get tired of it easily. Even I did, and I'm a die-hard fan of the computer versions. From the start, you choose one of three breeds of dogs (Mutt, Chihuahua, or Scottie) and take care of it until it is old enough to be retired. Each game comes with a variety of toys and objects to care for your dog, and one special toy is included in each game. To collect all of the breeds and toys, you have to trade with other gamers. If you liked the first version of Dogz for the computer, you will probably like it. For another game like this, try Catz for GBC. My overall recommendation would be to buy Dogz 3 or 4 for the computer, where you can feed, groom, play, and even breed the dogz. Hope this was helpful!
