Excellent, but loosen up on the Economizing,

Doin' the D is excellent! As a matter of fact, this is the only 2009 release that I have purchased so far this year out of this music genre. And even though I think that the music on this album is five star material, I only rated this album four stars because I am very unhappy with the record company's practice of economizing and being frugal with the quantity of the product in this particular genre of music.
Also, this genre is suppose to be music for adults, however the 3 minutes and something seconds time length for most of the songs on this album seem more like the songs were written for high school students who have shorter attention spans rather than for adults.

Doin' the 'D' is absolutely.... Delicious. Great tunes and great flute work. I believe Alexander Zonjic's is even better than Herbie Mann. His mastery of the instrument is absolute!! Great CD. 5 stars

From classics like Freddie Hubbard's "Little Sunflower" and the Guess Who's "Undun" to eight original compositions from the pens of Jeff Lorber, Pieces of a Dream's James K. Lloyd, Ken Navarro (the title track), Chieli Minucci, and Lao Tizer, flutist Alexander Zonjic has fashioned a tour de force collection of Smooth Jazz gems here. DOIN' THE D, a salute to his beloved Detroit, captures the excitement and vibe of Motown, together with the pride this famed Canadian musician feels for his adopted city. Now let's talk about Mr. Zonjic's list of featured artists: Rick Braun, Brian Bromberg, Kenny G, Bob James, James Lloyd, Jeff Lorber, Maysa, Chieli Minucci, Ken Navarro, and Dwight Sills. If that isn't an all-star lineup, I don't know what is. If you don't have this album in your personal collection, you're missing the best of the best! DOIN' THE D is Superb with a capital S! ~SCOTT O'BRIEN
