Betty Boo came out in the US with her only number one Club Play track "Doin' The Do" in 1990/91 and followed it up with "Hey Dj" and "Where Are You Baby" then released her second cd Grrr It's Betty Boo in 1993 with the hits "Thing Goin' On" and the absolutely beautiful "Catch Me". She never hit outside the club charts and was part of the late 80's early 90's hip house movement that fused rap with a house beat that isn't really done anymore. This cd is basically a new version of her first cd Boomania with remixes. All the songs mix rap with singing which at the time was not done. Think of Betty Boo as a 1 woman Spice Girls or what rap is now- part song part rap. The Remixes are the European only Norman Cook(Fatboy Slim) mix of "24 Hours"(5:35),"Where Are You Baby"(Peter Lorimer 12" mix-6:37) and "Doin' The Do" (12" mix- 5:38). The mixes for "Doin' The Do" and "Where Are You Baby" are different than the mixes released in the US on vinyl and maxi cd singles- so they are rare. The Megamix(7:16) is a mix of all the four hits she had off the Boomania cd. If you can find her second cd buy that as well. "Skin Tight" is still one of the fastest and best female raps I have ever heard. Excellent cd. I love Betty Boo!!!!

If you already have her first and only half-way decent album, Boomania (1990) then you need'nt bother with this so called compilation as it contains all the tracks from that album with a few nondescript remixes of certain tracks added on. Betty Boo aka Alison Clarkson looked a promising talent when she exploded onto the music scene in 1989 with the still funky and upbeat, I Can't Dance To That Music You're Playing. After enjoying high success with the album, Boomania and the string of hit singles taken from it (Where Are You Baby, Doin' The Do, 24 Hours) she faded from view and after a brief revival in 1992 with the album, Grrr...It's Betty Boo, she completley disappeared into obscurity. However this album is quite enjoyable if only to wallow in nostalgia as Betty Boo had some fantastically flamboyant and over the top recordings such as the infectious Where Are You Baby, whils the more rythmically divine, 24 Hours, still sounds vibrant today and is by far one of the best tracks she ever recorded. Surprisingly outstanding on this album is the almost haunting, Leave Me Alone, which really does stand apart from the other tracks. Valentines Day and Don't Know What To Do are other still enjoyable numbers but apart from that the album contains tracks like Mumbo Jumbo that are still effectivley catchy but at the same time sound very much like early 1990's products. This compilation is really recommended to die-hard fans and people tht already know about her as there is nothing really unique to offer somebody who has never even heard of her.

This has some great songs on it and addictive tunes.
It sounds kinda weird at times, but i like this cd.This is not the sort of music i usually like. But she sold me with 2 mega hits in Where are you Baby and Doin' the do. I love those 2 songs. But the good tunes dont stop there. There is the good song 24 Hours,as well as I Cant Dance. There is also some experimental songs,or at least the appear to be experimental.Amazingly they are very good songs.I like every song on this cd.Leave me ALone is another addictive tune. Doin' it till Def is a great song, addictive as are most of the others. Im a bit disappointed there are no songs from her second CD Grrrr Its Betty Boo,which does have some good songs on it but was not successfull.Instead we get some extended versions of songs, which are interesting.

Boo's Back!,

Boo's back! Just when we thought we had heard the last from this post-modern diva of early 90's pop here she is again! Some may mock a "best of" album after only just two long-play releases (not countering the Beatmaster's Anywayawanna which fleetingly showcased the talents of Ms Boo). But for those of us for whom the lights came down the moment Betty dropped her mike that grey afternoon in Australia, this album's a delight. All the favourites are here, including of course the glorious Doin' the Do and equally groovy Where Are You Baby. It's sharp, smart, and sexy. These tunes certainly knock the socks off the self-important dross that fills the charts today. This is a pop star who could and should have made it to the very top. It's a real shame she didn't. My only quibble is that Batman and Robin Mix of Where are You Baby didn't make the cut. Maybe it'll make volume 2 of the greatest hits. Along with the other mere half dozen songs that didn't make volume 1...

this is a best of? what about her second cd grrr...its betty boo? the remixes could have been remixed track 14 and 15, boos megamix....thats a megamix?? if this was to be a best of this cd needs songs from second cd. like songs im on my way, wish you were here, skin tight, gave you the boo.no extra pictures inside of the very pretty ms. boo. this cd is like getting your hair done, but, no wash, no blow dry, and very little gel to hold it together. it could have been awhole lot better. if your a diehard fan...like me, you might want it. this is what it should have been liketrack 1. where are you baby 2 im on my way 3doin the do 4 hey dj 5 gave you the boo 6 boo is booming 7 wish you were here 8 valentines day 9 skin tight 10 24 hours 11 boos boogie 12 leave me alone 13 dont know what to do. and a few new remixes. that would have been more worthy of this great artist and her short but wonderful singing career.....we miss you much bett boo.
