Duke Heitger nails it again, October 6, 2009

What more can I say about Duke Heitger that I haven't already said in my reviews of his other CDs? Duke Heitger is simply the best swing trumpeter since Roy Eldridge. In this album of duets with Bavarian pianist Bernd Lhotzky, he really stretches out. Duke Heitger doesn't just blow a string of pretty notes. His well-thought-out and well-structured solos tell a story and have a beginning, middle and end.
My only complaint with this CD is that Duke is sometimes a little more restrained than I would like. "Rhythm Is Our Business" is still my favorite Heitger CD, but this one is well worth buying as well.
