5.0 out of 5 stars Doing Church as a Team
Pastor Wayne captures the essence of Ephesians Chapter Four and the heart of effective ministry that is "gift based" and driven by volunteers rather than paid professionals. 3.0 out of 5 stars Chruch Team
I was slightly disappointed in this book. While it is solid from a spiritual basis, it is weak on the nuts and bolts, which is where many of us are seeking help.

This review is from: Doing Church as a Team (Hardcover)
Pastor Wayne captures the essence of Ephesians Chapter Four and the heart of effective ministry that is "gift based" and driven by volunteers rather than paid professionals. The key to the book is that God has placed gifts, dreams and abilities in each person and they must be seen as valuable. Release those dreams and passions and with very little motivation these people will serve and become a mobilized force living out their God given passion. This book has helped our local church to become far more successful and have a greater impact on our community. We have grown in numbers and in volunteers here in our California church.
I highly recommend it to you. The leaders New Hope (Wayne's church) is raising up and deploying is amazing.

Doing Church as a Team revitalized our church, and inspired us to reach new heights of mobilizing people for ministry. It is a book of hope, enabling you to believe more in God, and His plan for your life and others'. It contains practical words of wisdom and insight for building a church of small groups or teams versus a church with small groups. Wayne Cordeiro is a master storyteller. He really motivates and encourages you to press onward.

4.0 out of 5 stars Team Work is a Must, September 21, 2010
I appreciate this book's emphasis on being on the same page as a church. Though we all may do things differently due to our giftedness, we should all be headed the same direction. Dr. Cordeiro does a good job at making this clear to the readers. Very motivational. Slightly short on application, but definately worth having.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love This Book!, November 10, 2010
Doing Church as a Team is a book that every church leader should read. Pastor Wayne Cordeiro does a remarkable job highlighting the value and impact of volunteerism as oppose to "paying people to serve." In this wonderful book Pastor Wayne celebrates the importance of every person. In addition to the great insights shared throughout the book, there are many wonderful and inspirational stories that both challenge and instruct the reader. The reader is continually reminded about the importance of working within a team context. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and feel comfortable giving it my highest recommendation to those developing and building teams. While visiting Hawaii on vacation I attended New Hope Christian Fellowship on Oahu. This is the church Pastor Wayne Cordeiro founded. It is a remarkable place that clearly reflects the teaching of this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Too few doing too much in your church?, October 14, 2009
By
Too few doing too much in your church? Too many doing too little? "Doing Church as a Team" by Wayne Cordeiro will help you understand the potential of teams and develop team-based ministry. Cordeiro provides motivation more than a detailed process on how to get the job done. However, this Scriptural empowerment coupled with well told stories and examples are just the thing to help people move from the stands to the field, from being spectators to making a real difference for God's Kingdom. When Cordeiro turns to nuts and bolts, he provides an easy to understand, transferable, practical framework for building teams. The questions as the end of each chapter are useful for discussion with leaders or with groups. The principles in this book, properly applied, will get you well on your way to developing and mobilizing healthy ministry teams that use their gifts to accomplish the mission God has given His church.

This review is from: Doing Church As A Team (Paperback)
An insightful book designed to instruct the church planting leader/christian to operate as a team. The example of the rowing team exerting their energy first as individuals then later as a well trained team summarizes the book. Training is essential in church planting and it successful operation.
