O.K., I'm biased. I've been addicted to this band since before their first, unsigned, undistributed EP: Rise. But if you're checking this out, then you're probably aware that The Ordinary Way is anything but common. I suggest looking up the word ordinary to get a fuller since of what the band name means.Dojo means "the place of the way." I could not imagine a more apt name for this album. While diverging dramatically from any linear paths from their first CD, Death&Taxes, TOW has managed to produce another album which is capable of hijacking a CD Player for extended periods of time. To describe the music of The Ordinary Way is difficult, at best. The easiest answer, Soul-Blues-Jazz-Rock-Folk-Reggae-Groovy Psychedelia, is incomplete and misleading. The shortest answer I can come up with is deceptively unfamiliar. The accurate answer can only be gleaned from listening to this genre defining album. I've heard it described as a composition album. I'm not sure what that means, but the album as a whole is better than the individual songs. The individual songs are extra-ordinary. Enter dojo.
