Buy it to play with friends!,

I was introduced to this game by a friend when we played a three person DS Download game. It was such a blast that I picked up my own copy. Multi-card play is much better, with the greatest additional feature being that you can save a multiplayer game. I've just ordered two more copies just for this reason, since my gaming sessions (3-4 hours) would really end prematurely when we cannot save.
Single player is still fun, but the AI does noticably cheat. That might be necessary, however, since it would really be too easy to win if it didn't. After only a couple days, I can beat the "normal" difficulty but still have a close game. I really would recommend this for multiplayer, even if everyone else just downloads from you.

I was really excited to get this game at first, but the excitement didn't last long. The game was clearly designed to be multiplayer and the AI is not fun to play against at all. The game plays like a board game and the AI "cheats" 95% of the time it will get exactly the number of moves needed to land on a spot to fight a monster or complete a quest. Battles are played similarly to rock paper scissors with a choice of attacks and defenses. Again 90% of the time the AI will pick exactly the defense it needs to counter your attacks.
You are given spells you can cast on the game board instead of taking a move that do things like inflict status effects or damage on your enemies. However they do not work. Almost every time they are used the npc either dodges, or only takes 1 damage. The game also takes a long time to play and you are only allowed 3 saves. My brother and I played this for 6 hours one afternoon and only got to the second of 8 acts. I think this game could be a lot of fun if you had at least 2 other people to play with and say a good 18 hours to waste, but aside from that it's probably best avoided.

I loved the original Dokapon Journey for the Wii. This is a great alternative for gaming on the go. You can play local multi-player with only one game cartridge - the only downfall is that you can't save that game. If each person has a cartridge the game can be saved.
It is a lot of fun.

Dokapon Journey is a board game, strategy game, and a roll-playing game. You can play against your friends or computer opponents. It's unpredictable because when you land on an empty space it could be a monster, a fun mini-game, or a great item made for you! There are three different modes of play to choose from: story mode where you have to complete missions for the king, greed mode where whoever collects the most money after a certain amount of weeks win, and battle mode where you are trying to collect the most orbs or a contest to see who defeats the most monsters. This game is extremely fun so I highly recommend it.

Man I couldn't find this game anywhere, I checked like ten stores. Definitely a good buy, I loved the wii version and this one is portable which makes for a very good distraction on long road trips. The ds version is pretty much like a generic rpg turned into a board game with the combat being turned based with a kind of rock paper scissors element.
Easy to pick up and play and has a lot of replay value so long as you have someone to play it with. |
