Built tough to last forever. Have tossed and beatup many times so far and still looks new. I love how the only soft spot there is on the body makes your dog correctly grab that part for proper retrieval. Would recommend to any hunting enthusiest.

I've used many Dokken Dead Fowl Trainer's on puppies through to adult dogs. The Quail and Teal trainers are great for puppies. I particularly like the design of the birds, size and weight. The hard head and feet encourages puppies/dogs to pick up the bird in the middle of the bird. It's great to watch them the first time on real birds as they know what to do. I also use the black duck (larger duck) if an adult dog starts to shake birds, a few sessions with the hard head of the dead fowl trainer sets them back on track. Overall a great product from the novice/beginner pup right through to the seasoned adult. They are very robust and sturdy. The DeadFowl Injector Kit can be used to impregnat the ducks, the scent also help to create interest or can be used for drags.

I've always used the standard canvas dummies, but my husband, while deployed, ordered this for our pup as a Christmas present. It is, hands down, her FAVORITE toy. It simulates the size and weight distribution of a real bird, complete with a dangling head and tail. It didn't do much as far as teaching her to grab a feather-covered bird, but certainly gave her the confidence to carry one while it was still squirming. I'm ordering another one so that we can train on multiple retrieves in preparation for her second season.

I bought this when my lab was 4 months old. This worked really good for training my dog.
