5.0 out of 5 stars Nice transfer to DVD, with bonus features
If you are a fan of 80's metal, then Dokken was probably near the top of your list. This is a great DVD of thier home video release Unchain The Night, a long time coming, and worth the wait. This contains the original 7 videos Into the fire, Just got luck, breaking the chains, alone again, the hunter, In My Dreams, and It's not Love sandwiched between goofy shots of the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Cheezy Videos, Great Interview, Old Man's Failing Memory
What more can be said of videos with singer in a komono chained to a bed, the horrible jagged edges around pand member images of the cheap key effect in "In My Dreams", and the AC/DC rip off of the band playing on the flat bed truck. Love how they drive by the WIGS store, Don's second home. The videos show how Dokken tried to copy and follow every video trend that came...

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice transfer to DVD, with bonus features, March 13, 2007
This review is from: Dokken: Unchain the Night (DVD)
If you are a fan of 80's metal, then Dokken was probably near the top of your list. This is a great DVD of thier home video release Unchain The Night, a long time coming, and worth the wait. This contains the original 7 videos Into the fire, Just got luck, breaking the chains, alone again, the hunter, In My Dreams, and It's not Love sandwiched between goofy shots of the band behind the scenes. Bonus videos include Walk Away, Dream Warriors, Heaven Sent, and Burning Like A Flame, all surrounded by intro's from Don Dokken and Mick Brown. Also their is a 30 minute video of Don and Mick reminiscing about the Video, the past, and what the future holds for dokken. The quality of transfer is good, and well worth the investment for 80's fans. Sure, the style of big hair and spandex is dated, but the songs remain great.

I stumbled across this DVD at Walmart and was in complete shock that it had finally been released in this format. I had this video back in "the day" and absolutely loved it! Forgot what a funny guy Jeff Pilson is. Some of his dialogue in this DVD is hilarious! Great videos, soundbites and interviews from the 80's, along with bonus videos for the DVD release. The new videos include "Walk Away," "Dream Warriors," "Heaven Sent," and "Burning Like A Flame" with "informative intros./commentaries" before each new video by Don Dokken and Mick Brown. There are also new interviews with Don and Mick which make this release even better! Kudos to Rhino and Dokken for taking the time to put this together. Dokken has always had a strong FANBASE and this is an absolute STEAL for under $10.00. I would have paid a lot more. Great memories!

5.0 out of 5 stars Remember when videos were played on TV?, April 9, 2007

Okay, I have to admit, I was a late teen when MTV came on the scene, and I remember seeing some of the videos on this DVD then. But to have them on one DVD, is nice. If you are a Dokken fan, like I am it's "Heaven Sent".
The best part of this DVD, is the added interviews with Don and Wild Mick, and the videos that did not make regular MTV rotation. Without giving too much away, they tell their recollections of making the particular videos, and some of the stories will make you laugh or cry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rokken With Dokken!!!!!!, April 9, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dokken: Unchain the Night (DVD)
Being a big fan of Dokken and hair metal, this was a definite buy.I purchased it at a great price,of course at Amazon. If you love Dokken, you know the tunes and the videos. "Alone Again","In My Dreams","Just Got Lucky","Dream Warriors" are all here plus the other great songs.Great commentary on the four songs by Don & Mick. Glad to see Mick still with Dokken and the new album coming out this year. Too bad Lynch couldn't get in good graces, but what the heck.Highly recommended to the die hard Dokken fans and just hair metal lovers out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Guilt-Free Rocking Out!, August 10, 2011
This review is from: Dokken: Unchain the Night (DVD)
This is an absolutely fantastic DVD. I highly recommend it for anyone who remotely loves Dokken (or doesn't know them but enjoys '80s music). My mom, sister, and I had a blast last night watching it for the first time. Any of those studio videos you've seen on YouTube, they're included. Nothing is missing. But there's an added bonus for those of you who splurge and get this, instead of relying solely on the Internet. In between every video, there's candid footage shot with the band's Super 8 and mini interviews. There's a whole layer of personality to these guys that you don't see (often) in the music videos. It all comes out on this DVD. I think Don Dokken and Jeff Pilson especially shine in the personality dept. Don always looks so serious when he's singing; behind the scenes, we find out he likes old '60s sitcoms and has a sense of humor about things. In concert, Jeff looks like a crazy rocker without a brain in his head; in person, he's actually quite thoughtful and calm.

Another nice thing about this collection is how you don't have to worry about language. Anytime someone swears in the candid moments, they're "bleeped" out. Even then, there isn't a ton of cussing, so it's not like you're hearing that beeping noise every other minute (unlike TruTv). The only thing I don't like on this entire DVD is the video for "Into the Fire." It's one of those freaky '80s videos with far-too-flexible girls in leather. But I just skip that vid and it's no problem. Other than that, I'm completely satisfied with this collection. It has everything: great music, well-executed camera work, funny dialogue, and (if you're in the mindset of my sisters) cute guys to shriek over. So why are you still sitting here reading this? Haven't I convinced you? Go order this so you can be Rokken with Dokken!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great DVD!, June 20, 2007
This review is from: Dokken: Unchain the Night (DVD)
This is a very enjoyable DVD. Dokken is an underated and extremely talented hard rock band that makes amazing melodic metal. Vocalist Don Dokken has an incredible set of pipes, George Lynch is one of the premier guitarists in rock, and I can not say enough great things about bassist Jeff Pilson. This commercial video features most of Dokken's popular songs and I'm very happy to have it as a part of my DVD collection. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ok, so..., June 19, 2007
This review is from: Dokken: Unchain the Night (DVD)
Ok, so the metal cheese factor is there, so what. I got this on vhs when it came out in 86. I was wondering when it would come to dvd. I really like George Lynch's guitar work, typical 80's flair. The interviews are hilarious, and really corny most of the time, but what wasnt back in the 80's....

My fellow metal heads have already said what needs to be said about this one. I actually have a question for my fellow Dokken fans. Who was the actress in the "Heaven Sent" music video?
