Editorial Reviews

Product Description

In this stunning adaptation of Thomas Mann’s celebrated novel about greed and obsession, Adrian Leverkühn (Jon Finch), a passionate composer, makes a pact with the devil in order to create a new musical idiom. Years of acclaim follow, but the price that he must pay for his success is higher than he could possibly imagine.

Winner – Best Production, Bavarian Film Awards

This review is from: Thomas Mann's Doktor Faustus (DVD)
This is a made-for-TV product that is passed off as a movie. Thus, when I saw credits after some time of watching, I assumed it was over. But such an ending hardly made sense, so I looked again and the credits were for part 1 of the 3-part series! Very poor on the part of the marketers. Watchers should have been warned to look out for it.
