2.0 out of 5 stars LOOK TO DOLLS FOR COMFORT, December 10, 2005
This review is from: Doll, Vol. 2 (Paperback)
The second volume of Doll, the anthology manga that concerns the relations between humans and robots wasn't quite up to par with the Twilight Zone twists of Volume 1. In one of the better stories, "Mother", an abused boy's Christmas wish is fulfilled by some outlaw Doll modifiers. In "Doll House", another story which centers on a young boy, a mother takes out her frustrations and failed dreams on her son, after she suspects her husband of having an affair with a Doll. Probably the only other good tale in here is "Mika", in which the author touches too briefly on the dehumanizing effects of a woman working in a robot office environment. Most of the other stories in here are pretty mediocre and fail in disturbing or making you think like those warning bells in Volume 1. Especially weak is "S", in which the paths of an anti-robot terrorist group and an assassin Doll that hunts down bootleg robots cross could have been a great story but never really materializes. Probably the biggest failure of Mihara in Volume 2 is the failure to probe the difference between human and robot. Here, the angst of humanity hogs the spotlight and the Dolls are just spectators. Hopefully, Volume 3 will be better.

it has taken me over a year to find this item so i was very happy to get it from someone else other than my local stores some of which sold my mother other books saying that they were the item in question this book came to me as if it was new to a store front no scratches, strange scents, yellow spots, binding breakage, or other displeasing things were to be found this book came quickly and had good packing all pages were intact and all images were clear and unobstructed from damage i would recomend this seller for more than adequate service

1.0 out of 5 stars doll #4, January 26, 2007
im only giving this one star because the condition i got it in had it said it was in horrible condition and buy at users discretion not that i would suggest that as a selling mechanism but it would have been truthfull the binding is in poor condtion the cover is scratched the pages are bend you can see how the previous owner held the book as they read it thats how bad the pages are bent it also looks from the way the cover bends like it was just shoved into shelves without care quite possibly this book could have been passed around and had multiple owners if not it was not treated kindly at all also notable was the odd yellowing of pages it almost appeared as if it has something spilled inside and was left to dry near high heat or with direct exposure to the sun and thats why it gets 1 star regaurdless that it came on time the books packaging didnt even have a decent amount of padding
