5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent work Caroline!, November 6, 2007
By LOCKSIE "ARC Book Club Inc" (ARCBOOKCLUBINC.com) - See all my reviews

Portia, Laila and Fatima continue their sisterhood bond. All are married now, but will it be happy ever after?
Fatima and Wise added a daughter to their family, but Wise can't seem to stop chasing other women and now his dirty deeds are about to catch up with him.
Fatima is sick of his promises to stop cheating, so she embarks on a dirty little escapade for herself but gets caught...will they be able to forgive each other or will this be the beginning of the end of their marriage?

Laila and Khalil's marriage is on the rocks big time! Khalil will sell anything he can get his hands on to fund his expensive habit. Laila is trying hard to get Khalil to admit he has a problem and get help before he ruins them financially. Meanwhile no-one is watching their daughter Pebbles; who is acting more like a grown woman than a twelve year-old girl. Will the stress of an addict husband and a rebellious child prove to be too much for Laila to handle?

Portia and Jay seem to have the most solid marriage out of the three friends. With their daughter and Jay's son from a previous relationship they are living large in New Jersey. Portia is a published author while Jay's Street Life Entertainment Company, which he runs with his best friends Casino and Wise has made them all Multimillionaires. But along with wealth comes jealousy and resentment which forms the foundation for old secrets and lies to resurface.

Along with an additional cast of characters this epic saga continues...bringing secrets, lies, incest, rape and sex to new heights! Caroline does a great job touching on the incest subject and the situations with Pebbles which only helped to enhance the main story.
I stayed up all night through the morning...I was hooked! By the time I got to the end of the story I was screaming..."I can't believe Caroline did this to me!" Then I started shaking the book upside down as if more words would fall out of the pages!
Yes readers there WILL be a part three and Caroline assures me that she working on it right now, so stay tuned!

Caroline McGill has definitely earned her literary stripes with this one...this is EXCELLENT!!

5.0 out of 5 stars People hate it when you love your life, September 12, 2007
It's five years later and the gangs all here. Still sad that Simone committed suicide the girls keep her memory alive.

In love and happier then ever Portia and Jay are doing well, they have 2 children to be thankful for and a marriage that is blessed by god.

Fatima and Wise are trying to save their marriage and not give up on love.

Laila is at her witts end with Khalil he has turned a to life she can not condone while one daughter wants to soar her wild oats in the streets and the other daughter turns out to be her rock.

Casino "Cas" is still Cas married to Jay's little sister is more of a headache then he ever thought it would be 5 years later.

Jay as usual tries to help anyone and every one he can, not knowing the one person he is fighting so hard to help is the one person that is hating the life he and his partners are living.

Ms. McGill put this story together well using her signature story telling she weaves HIV and AIDS awareness throughout the story and holds your attention with the drama, sex, and violence.

5.0 out of 5 stars That's What's Up, August 24, 2007
By Ms Toni "Avid Reader" (Midwest - USA) - See all my reviews

In A DOLLAR OUTTA FIFTEEN CENT PART II, Caroline McGill offers readers a look again into the lives of best friends Portia, Laila and Fatima. Their friendship has survived the test of time, drama, pain and even death. But are they ready for what life has in store for them next?

Portia has it all. She has a beautiful, spacious home, two loving children and her king in her husband, Jay. Jay, a reformed thug, is now part owner in Street Life Entertainment Inc., a thriving and much sought after record company. True to the company's name, street life seems to follow Jay. Now a respected businessman, will the lure of the streets shatter their happiness?

Laila felt she made the right decision in ending her affair with Casino (MY BABY!!) and working on saving her marriage. Now that her marriage is failing, she can't help but question whether or not she made the right decision. Is Casino, now a married man, the answer?

Fatima and Wise are living happily ever after, or are they? Wise is a good provider and father but falls short in the good husband department. He can't seem to keep his pants zipped and all his indiscretions are taking a toll on Fatima and their marriage. Has Fatima reached her breaking point?

Caroline McGill has again dropped something for the grown and sexy. Though many try, quite a few fail with producing an entertaining sequel. McGill is not of that number. The returning cast of characters, flawed and vividly portrayed, withstands the test. Her new novel is filled with intrigue, drama, and sex appeal. McGill's calling card of HIV/AIDS awareness is also present and woven into the storyline. Money talked and bullsh*t walked! Can't wait for Part III and my boo, Cas.
