3.0 out of 5 stars Dollies, children's play things or adults living nightmare?, July 8, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Dollies (Paperback)
When I bought this book I thougth that it would be really creepy. From what the back said, I thought it sounded like the typical ghost story, haunted victorian, and dolls that came alive. Wrong! I remeber now why I put this book down when I bought it ten years ago, only to dig it out again when I saw it again at a used book store. This book was a big a dissappointment. The story starts out as a Kit the main character and also the real estate agent pulls up in front of an old victorian house, and you begin to think the books going to be scary. Kit is a single mother that basically deals with this creepy old man who lives with his daughter. Through out the book she basically tries to sell thier house. There is something creepy about the old man. The author doesn't do a very good job descrbing the house and, I think that if she did, it would've been scarier. The book has some real page turning moments however, there are some other times that you just put this book down for days. Jodie, Kit's daughter is really a cute kid. Kit basically deals with her ex husband throughout the book. There is a time when Kit and Jodie hide from the dollies, this is creepy! I have to say the end of the book is probably the creepiest part of all. I didn't think this author could be that scary! There is another time when Kit and another real estate agent do something really risky, this is a time when the book really picks up. At this point in the book, something is discovered that is really shocking. I wouldn't reccommend this book, unless it's at your lib.
