I am just getting started with my collection of the Princess Dolls by Barbie.
I just purchased this doll today and she is gorgeous. I too like the reviewer before me posted, enjoy looking through all the dolls before making a final decision. This doll is very pretty for the fact her outfit is classy and so is her look. Her hair is pinned up very nicely and I just enjoy all ethnic barbies. Well worth the $$.

I have most of the dolls in the Princesses of the World Collection, and I must say that the Princess of Ancient Greece is one of my favorites!I think her makeup is very attractive. One of the other reviewers mentioned that she had unattractive, crooked eyes. Mine doesn't look that way--she's really stunning! The copper fabric is very elegant and blends beautifully with home decor when she is displayed. Usually when I go to purchase a doll in a store, I meticulously search through them to find the "perfect doll"--a combination of flawless features, straight, unrumpled clothing, and a perfect to near perfect box. Sometimes I have to go to 3 or 4 stores to find one like that. But I found this one on the first try, and just about every other one I've seen looks just as good as mine. She really is a good looking Princess!

Fashion diva becomes a Grecian goddess,

This is one of the best dolls in this excellent series. With her upswept hair, vampish eye makeup and draped gown she is one of the most glamorous Barbies to come out recently. The back of the box shows a prototype doll using a standard Barbie head sculpt, fortunately this doll was actually produced using the Lea/Kayla head sculpt which is clearly a better choice. The only fault I can find with this doll is the fact that her dress is sewn on so if you plan on redressing her you will have to carefully undo the stitching, this doesn't ruin the dress but is a nuicance considering that it could have easily been made with snaps. Other than my one objection, and if you plan on leaving her as is this won't be a problem, I do think this doll is an outstanding value.

It used to be that I was only interested in collecting Marilyn Monroe, Scarlett O'Hara, and other Hollywood dolls...then I saw this doll, and now I'm incurably hooked on this beautiful collection. Exquisite detail, gorgeous clothes, and what a great way to expose your child to an awareness and appreciation for different cultures. Great doll!!!

While I can somewhat understand the disappointment of the other reviewer who was angry because the outfit was not removable from the doll, please remember that this is meant to be a collectible, not a play doll. I'm sure Mattel meant the outfit remain on the doll, since they apparently went to some trouble to create hair styles and makeup unique to each of the Princess dolls. So far, Greece has been my favorite - she has exquisite coloring and while simple, her outfit is very pretty and displays very nicely alongside the other dolls in the series. Thankfully, she doesn't have the "floating" issue with her stand (feet not touching the base), so she's fairly secure on the included straddle stand. Overally, this is a very nice addition to the series and if you purchase it as a doll to display and enjoy as is, then you won't be disappointed. If you're looking for a play doll to redress, then it would be easier to make a Grecian outfit (there are many patterns out there) rather than tear this one apart.

I bought the Dolls of the World Princess of Ancient Greece last week, and I have to say that it is quite nice. That being said, I have 2 issues with the clothes on this Barbie. As a Classics major, I have a little more knowledge than most about Ancient Greek dress. Her dress is slightly incorrect; her waist should not be tapered. It should be the same width as the rest of the dress then tied at the middle with a cord. Also, why is she wearing pumps!? She should have gold sandals or something. Otherwise, the fabric is lovely, the jewelery is nice, her hairstyle looks correct for ther period and she is very authentic.

Wow, they get better and better! The quality of her is unparalleled. Her features aren't cluttered at all unlike some of her previous predecessors. She was also very easy to open. What was striking in her image was the elegance that resonated from her dress and face. Her hair is upswept in a wondrous style similar to Princess of the Danish court, however, there were wringlets place upon her head instead of a tuft of hair which is decorated with a laurel leaf crown. Her makeup was not overdone like Princess of Portugal's, it had a subtlety that matched the hues of her dress in light almond color. Her earrings are a bit gaudy in olympian-style hoop earrings with beaded decoration however, her dress surpasses and diminishes all the flaws. In a copper colored Grecian styled dress with bronze silk-like underlay, she absolutely stunned. Her dress is similar to that of Princess of the Nile's, but isn't trailing and is a bit stiff. Her himation (outer cloak) in delicate white adds that little bit of regality a princess is born with. She reminds me of the Goddess of Wisdom a few years back. All in all, this is a must have as are the rest in this series.

Wow, this is my second doll in this series and I am totally impressed. I love her subtle makeup and graceful upswept hairdo. Te dress...wow! I am going to pattern my wedding dress after her gown! ( If I get married some day) She reminds me of what the Goddess Athena might have looked like in the minds of ancient Greek artists.

This doll is beautiful, but don't buy her here! The price is completely ridiculous. It's very easy to get one for less at other websites, up to a hundred dollars less.

Overall, I have to say that the Princess of Ancient Greece is a lovely doll. I like her costume because it looks authentic. I do not like her hair because it looks as though her hair was cut to achieve her updo, which gives it a bit of a rough appearance. I would recommend this doll if you are interested in Ancient Greece, the Dolls of the World collection, or collectable Barbies.
